Anyone ever bought some of this larger minis? I been looking at them at the War Store and I really like them. I\'m thinking of buying one so I can paint it. Has anyone done any and has any pic?

Many people here are versed although you may find more in the historical area postings. Check the prices a

I order from them as a wholesale dealer but I would think their prices would be good as a retailer.

Painting 54mm is slightly different to the methodology that we use for 28mm.
28mm is approx 1/65th scale while 54mm is roughly 1/35th cale. So the highlights have to be more subtle.
While with 28mm we can afford to over-emphasise the contrasts with 54mm. We have to extend the range of levels between shadows tones to highlights as the human eye will \"Forgive\" the excessive contrast in small scale but not in larger scale.
Think of it as a perspective situation if you look at a person who is far enough away to look 28mm then at someone who is closer you will see more detail & tonal definition in the closer person than in the one further away.
(Best explanation I can come up with at this time of the morning.)

If you like Pegaso, try these two manufacturors:

elite Miniaturas

Especially the models by RAÚL G. LATORRE are exquisite.

andrea miniatures

andrea do some wonderful kits, as well as the .....ermm.....very recognizable .....characters from films and stuff, like \'The Barbarian\', and \'The Dark Avenger\'. check out the Peter O\'Toole one, it\'s going to be the next andrea fog I buy, together with thwe Indiana Jones motorcycle set. :D

Thank you!

Thank you for link! Those are some great minis. Thank you. Dragonsreach that\'s a good explanation. I might still buy one just to try it. If I don\'t, then I will have it in the back of my mind hehe.

The Latorre sculpted kits are excellent (and he\'s a mean painter as well), I\'m painting one of his right now. He\'s aso got work on here (adso2)

One thing to note is that Latorre figures are noticably smaller than Pegaso. Latorres figures are 54mm to the top of the head pretty much, where as Pegaso are up to 65mm and are bulky by comparison.

Can\'t go wrong with any of these guys tho.

Oh yes, Mike\'s totally right about the painting differences. I\'ve painted 54mm stuff for years and really struggle to get the contrast in my 28mm minis:D

Whilst we\'re on the subject of larger scale figures, does anyone know what happened to Mascot Models? Their site has been down for months! Their 90mm highly pornographic figures were always quite tempting in their own gynaecological way.

The only ONline store I knew sold them has now only got Two displayed and both of these are marked as discontinued.
Think that Mascot Models might have ceased trading.

Mascot Models....

MM is no more I am afraid:(

However their models were still available from a dealer in the States. I don\'t know if he bought up the moulds or not...

However I have just discovered that their website has disappeared as well.....The \'curse of Mascot Models\' strikes again:D

That\'s a real shame. I was quite taken with the likes of \'Tee Off Tina\' (where\'s that golf club going?) and \'Chuck\'s Chain gang\'.

:D

They were stupendously well made... I have bought a couple that held together without glue..never mind filling gaps..

I will let you know if the new American distributor ever re-surfaces:D

I have Andrea\'s El Caballero Oscuro being a Dark Night fan. Very nice figure, great mood and action, my only complaint is the seam formed between the cape and the cowl could have been done better. It\'s going to be a pain to fill that...
