Thank You all,
You don\'t know how much all of your kind words have meant to me. The funeral service is today, and I think it\'s going to be really rough... he was EXTREMELY close with my kids. Being retired, he was able to take them out a couple times a week to the lake or for a hot dog or just to the park........
@Finn - I\'m actually the youngest of four, but I was still put in charge of the arrangements. It may have been an honor, but it certainly wasn\'t a blessing. Hardest thing I ever had to do....
@Vince - My father was a pack-rat too... I\'ve been meaning to go over to my parents house with my oldest sister and clean up a bit, but maybe it would be better to just leave it for awhile... the problem is my mother refuses to go back into that house.
@cfwheeler58 - I don\'t know how you were able to handle that... my loss almost seems trivial in comparison. I can\'t even imagine losing a child; I spent all day Saturday vomitting and my father had a full life. I\'m sorry to have caused you to bring up such hurt.
To everyone - For my father\'s sake, I\'m glad it was quick and unexpected. The rest of the family wasn\'t able to get any closure, but at least he wasn\'t in pain very long. My mother-in-law took a year to die and she was only fifty five. I got to watch a buxom vivacious woman drain away into a 90lb hairless skeletal creature over months of time, and although the family all got to say their goodbyes, I wouldn\'t wish that on anyone.
Unexpected was better for my Dad, and I have to hold onto that right now.
Thank you all again, I really do consider you all my extended family.
