Hi all,

I live in the Perth area of WA, and was wondering where people get their minis from? I'm kinda new to this, and only really know Games Workshop, and as much as its a good starting place, as I'm in my 30s I'm probably a bit old to be hanging around the store.... I'm only just starting and am inerested in pretty much painting anything I can get, but largely Sci Fi and fantasy as opposed to historic. I don't really play any games any more, so it's really just a place to buy stuff and maybe get some help with painting etc.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated!

Even in Sydney, mate, I get most of my stuff online. There's plenty of stuff out there now - Infinity, Nocturna, Enigma, Rackham, etc.

You can source a lot of these from e-Bay. Also reliable online sellers in Oz are Combat Company in Mortdale NSW, or Black Cultist, or even Bunker Games (but only if you can put up with stupidly long times to delivery, and little to no communication).

Also look out for trading groups on Facebook, such as Wargame Trading Unlimited or Wargamers Buy Swap Sell.

I also get stuff from the Combat Company. My other sources in OZ are: TableTop Empires, Games Empire and Underground Wargames. Most of them are on the East coast; I'm not sure of anyone out West.

Finally, there's also a few people who manufacturer their own lines of miniatures. The ones I've dealt with are Victoria Miniatures and Guild of Harmony.

Thanks guys, I'll be checking them out this week! O guess there are some things that just haven't made to the west coast yet!

I just found them on google, gonna head there today or tomorrow. Thanks!

Looked at Guild of Harmony, really like their stuff, dies anyone know what the quality is like? Not that it matters tooooo much, I'll destroy it with shoddy painting anyway! :)

GoH casts in white metal, they are truescale - which means very tiny for me :). Other than that, the quality is very good, mouldlines are easy to clean and there's very little, if any, flash to contend with.

Thanks.... What does truescale mean? His would this compare to a GW space marine or human?

Miniatures are generally divided into truescale and heroic scale. The latter is what Space Marines are modeled after - exaggerated portions, gigantic weapons, just non-proportional. Truescale is proportional - examples are Malifaux, or Zveda, such as where there are no huge hands holding ever huger weapons.

So, a truescale model would generally be smaller than a Space Marine.

So i made it to Tactics in London Court today. Really like the place, reminded me of what Games Workshop was 20 years ago, and I sincerely mean that as a compliment. Actually seen lots of historic stuff in there i liked, but i kinda feel that you have to be a good painter to paint historic! i know that sounds stupid, but i think Fantasy and Sci Fi stuff can me more forgiving... Anyway, i bought a few of the Privateer Press Skorne stuff. it looks good to my untrained eye, and it should be fun to paint. gives me a (Slight) change from the GW stuff. Gonna check out West Gamer soon, but to be honest, im not really looking to play anything, lust looking to get into the painting....
