Thanks freak! Good to know someone agrees. It just would have been impossible and 10 movies later to translate EVERYTHING from the books to the movie.

I heard ages back, (before P.J.s and New Lines fallout), that the Hobbit would have to be split into 2 films so i to assume that the \'sequel\' will just be the 2nd half of the book and will probably be called \'The Hobbit Part 2\'
Vike is right, the LOTR books was written at a different time when the reading style was different then today. Each LOTR book was written over a span of several years where most writers today crank out 1 or more books a year.
Look at the style of Edgar Allan Poe, in the 1830\'s when his work was being published the standard style of writing was very \"wordy\" as the readers felt it was up to the writer to describe everything in the story. Today it\'s seen as the reader\'s job to imagine a vast part of the story as they see it, not as ho the writer imagined the scene.
Still the point is that there will never be a movie that is a perfect copy of a book. I had more to say but i forgot since my new kitten refuses to leave my computer alone right now.

awesome, i hope it isnt as dull as LOTR, it seems like everyone was waering green , brown or grey. lotr was good but seeing as each movie was 3 hrs long they might as well have made them 4 with an intermission , and keep all the stuff they cut out, like characters that only show up once (glorfindel, tom bombadil, that gondor guard who\'s name i cant remember)

I have to completely agree with Supervike with what he\'s said on this thread. I remember as clear as day reading the Hobbit in my late teens. Sick home from school on a cold stormy winters day in Melbourne. One of the coolest experiences ever! Every time Bilbo and crew stopped for tea ad supper breaks I also raided the fridge for tucker. I really felt like I lived through that experience with Bilbo. One of the best reads! I must read it again come to think about it.

Currently rereading it myself. I picked it up just days before this announcement and I\'m reading it slowly savoring it this time. It\'s a good read! Love my little burglar!

Another film that does it is The Graduate, though that\'s a different kettle of fish. Superb it is!
