His face/head is fantastic. I think the torso needs bulking up abit, particulary the chest as it doesn\'t seem inproportion to the arms, and hips. But it is a WIP so you might already have plans for this.

The head is great!! Love the cthulu style mixed with nids. But the hips do look to be a bit small.

I\'m assuming this is supposed to be a big Nid beast in the Cthulu style and not your impression of what an Old One from the Warhammer background would have looked like instead (the square base and Empire dude by him make me have to ask the question).

As has been said the head looks great, but the rest needs work. The wings look much too small to support something that bulky really. They need more span to them to look right on the model. The rib, carapace thing is a bit too square looking too.

I will be interested to see how this progresses.

I think this is rather cool, but personally I find it\'s not Alien enough, way to human in proportion. The Great Old one I expect to drive me mad when I look at him, not remind me of a guy in a plastic suit. Not sure exactly how you would fix that though, as making a mini that drove you insane would be well, insane.

Not sure if you have seen this yet, but Wizkids put out a pretty nice C\'thulhu last year that looked foreign enough for me:

I bought that Wizkids thingie! He is monsterous....15 inches tall to the head, 18 if you count the wings.....

but anyhow...I think your sculpt is great....it has enough \'Nid to be recognizable...but also enough lovecraft to be creepy! I\'d love to see how you paint it up.

Looks good so far.
I think the knee could use more articulation/segmentation because right now I get the impression he\'s wearing bermuda shorts.

How else are you suposed to represent an image Lovecraft bleakly described in a sentance? Like Ive said he was sculpted to look just like the Broodlord in my army to keep continuity (BL is being used as my star spawn). Also there are deepones, that are also very tyranid like, all to keep the same weird look. For the warhammer world its WAY WAY alien, nothing else looks like them and which is why I did it and so I wouldnt have to free sculpt every single model lol. Ive see the wizkids model in person at my local shop and its just as humanoid as any tyranid. I agree he does have a rigidity in the chest, but as all tyranids do, its their belly that moves! He make look like he is wearing a sort of hotpants but thank GW for that lovely tyranid image.
I took some angled shots, more work will be done today and posted later.

It\'s not the rigidity in the chest carapace that is the problem, I understand that it acts as a fixed protective bit for the fleshy belly below it. The problem for me is that you have sculpted the overall shape of it, and the individual rib bits, to be far too boxy. The shape of the ribs in particular is very squared off and this makes it look much less organic. If this is just the basic shape build and you are going to do smoothing later to round them off then no problem, otherwise it needs some work.

YEA ME!!!!!!! :D

This looks really good so far. The (my?) head looks amazing and the body looks like it will be equally badass. I think the wings are a good balance between praticality and function. You have them at about the wing-size-to-body-size ratio every model or pic I\'ve seen has them at. I guess it\'s a matter of how \"real world\" functional you want them to look. I\'ll hold off any other comments until it\'s done. : )

@Gilvan Blight- the pic on the website doesn\'t show how humanoid the model from WK is. It\'s got an awful potbelly and a bit of a bubble-butt. : /

And yes I have one of the WK models too. It sits on my TV. ; )

Keep it up and do me proud!! ; )
