Photos before or after sealer?

Greetings fellow mini freaks!

I\'m just close to wrapping up a small batch of new minis I\'ve been painting and have a question for those who\'ve been doing this longer than me.

Do you get better results taking images of the minis before or after sealing?

I\'ve always stuck to the same routine - prep, paint, seal and now photgraph. Since I tend to be conservative in the sealing area (one coat of Kyrlon gloss, two of matte) and seal for playable minis, I\'m wondering if I might be wiping out some of the detail I\'ve worked hard to create?

After sealing, I don\'t find much if any difference in my minis - in person - but I am starting to wonder if those layers of sealer are affecting the photos - which never seem to capture the same detail.

I\'d love to hear what other people do when you move from the finished peice to the camera ;)

If you use magic wash based on floor shine, then you really need to matt the mini first. If you use a reducer based on airbrush matt medium, then your mini should be fairly matt to start with.

One thing I\'ve learned is that less is more when it comes to matt sealer. Very lightly coat the mini - not a wet layer and it will be very flat. Too much and it will have semigloss spots in it.
