Picture size

Heyas,

I was wondering what is a suitable size for a single 28mm picture. I notice on alot of sites that advertise minis (various companies and the such) the images are oftehn about 300 pixels on the long side, but when I take pictures I like to make them close to 600 px on the long side. The unfortunately side effect of this is that it shows *EVERY* flaw.. so on my gallery, I notice things look good in thimbnail, not so good when really upclose and personal.. where is the happy medium?

What do you guys think/prefer?

Well, as a blind old dinosaur, I prefer a larger picture of the mini in question so I can see the thing.:D

i have a similar problem...

I have been very frustrated with photo taking. I have a relatively decent camera (nikon coolpix 885) but the damn pictures never look as good as the mini (or at least IMHO). When I take the nice close up pictures, I too see every flaw, bad brush stroke, chalky consistancy....

Of course, In real life, after I paint something I like to hold it at arms length and then squint at it, it always looks better then!!!lollol

I have found that the best compromise between download time, \"truth in advertising\" (ie showing how it\'s really painted), and not showing \"too much,\" that for a 28mm fig, a picture height of 430 - 450 pixels is about right.
