Hi guys,

after some advise.... i need a pigment fixer for MIG pigments but my local store only sells the acrylic resin (thing white stuff).

What else can i use to fix the pigments... i've that just using thinners will work... is there any truth in this ?

Thanks in advanced.

Maybe this belongs in the painting & conversions section? You can use white spirit or lighter fluid to fix pigment washes or pigment that's been dry-brushed on to something. For thicker application of pigments, to mimic dried mud or caked earth for instance, the MIG fixer is better.

You just load a brush with the fixer and gently touch it to the area you want to fix. Capillary forces will do the work for you.

is the fixer the same as the resin or are they different things.. sorry if this is in the wrong forum but i thought the painting and conversions was for works in procress type things

Resin is completely different! The resin helps simulate thicker effects like mud and such, but the fixer ( I use lighter fluid) keeps the pigment attached to the model. Without fixing it, it will rub off with the greatest of ease, and if you apply a sealer it will take away most of the pigment.

Work in progress is put in the "Work in progress and project logs" section.

Yeah, the resin is different from the fixer.
