Pippin

Pippin.jpg

I think this is one of my best mini\'s to date, so I would like to ask everyone what I can do better (More in painting than photography :))

I tried a somewhat subtle lighting effect on this miniature. I wanted to capture the scene from The Two Towers where Merry and Pippin are in the moonlight at the Uruk Hai camp and are making a move to escape. I may paint up Merry and Grishnak, but may not.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Very very nice, very natural and I love the base. Great job, not to mention on a tiny mini like this.

Thanks for the comments! Im glad you like it!

I used a lot of purple ink in the mixes for shading, ive found that it makes a very nice mix with brown ink, very natural looking, red wine color. I also highlighted everything up to spacewolves grey before i did any glazes/shading to tie everything together to represent moonlight.

Anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Im curious as to why this mini is a 7.9, as I was shooting for a mid-8 on this one.

Thanks,

don\'t panic on the score yet it\'s a beautiful eyecatching little piece and I\'m sure the score will level out nicely.
The whole thing just works fantastic as OB said really set\'s the scene and tells the story..top job.

GW hobbits, about the same as 15mm? Great face. The closeup photo of the face is a bit out of focus (that could hurt the score). some of the folds in the cloth are a bit grainy - either over inked or a .jpg problem. That is all I can find to pick on and they are very minor issues - GREAT job.

off to vote & comment.

I think you got the blue color on the jacket spot on, great job. I had trouble getting a blue I liked when painting my own Pippin. The hair however doesn\'t seem to be quite the right color as Pippin\'s hair was more of a strawberry blonde and even in moonlight I don\'t think came out quite that brown.

Glad to see the score came up to something more in line with where it should be.
