Pirate Orc Kickstarter - Final Days!

I wanted to bring a really neat project to everyone's attention. Big Child Creatives along with Minx Miniatures has been doing a Kickstarter to release a range of 54mm scale orc pirate figures (actual figures are around 75mm tall). The sculpts are incredible with lots of character and a fantastic amount of detail. Perfect for display figures. And since most of the sculpts are finished I would call this a low risk kickstarter. There are only a few days left so check it out while there is still time. I've attached a selection of figure images below. You can find a lot more on the kickstarter and facebook pages.

Yeah, great sculpts and the painters they've got doing the box art are top notch too.

Here's the latest figure unlocked. The same sculptor that did Sharki and Papa Jambo will be doing this one, so I get the feeling it will be another must-have for me. And the campaign is close to unlocking the Grommarg Big Bomba piece, the largest figure in the range. All we've seen is a sneak peak of his face, but I get the feeling the whole figure is going to be pretty epic.

Here's the whole crew. All but two have been unlocked and those should be available soon if things keep going as they have been the last few days.

Oh man. Bomba will be friggin cool! I hope they do another Kickstarter too down the line. First, it'd be cool if there was a platform on which to display the entire crew. No idea what that would be...hmmm....how about a pirate ship?? Lol...but if not something like that, make a sort of Privateer crew meant to hunt down and wage war with the Orcs. Or another Pirate crew, like ratmen or something.

Freeman is the sculptor you speak of, yes?

Yup, Freeman is doing the Redghar.

The last 24 hours as been crazy in the kickstarter, unlocked a lot of stretch goals. Here's the concept art for the big bomba, freaking crazy! And the sculpting is being done by Latorre, so it should be really fantastic too. They mentioned showing some sculpture pictures soon, so that may be tomorrow. And as far as a platform to display the entire crew, there is a stretch goal for that I think is for the ship. We just passed the amount, so we'll find out more in the morning when they send out the update. I doubt it will be an entire ship... but it sounds ship related.

Its tearing me up this KS, its all so awesome! backing for 2 crew but as it goes on I see more that I would love to paint. wish I could but cant blow the budget at the moment. Next up Monkey Madness!

Yeah, there's so much in this kickstarter that I want. It's becoming very tough to balance what I can afford with what I absolutely need to have. Speaking of which, they just posted some WIP pictures of the big bomba sculpt. Wow, now this is a piece that wins competitions.

You say that, but I know you wouldn't be able to resist. You painted a squad up for GD, and in a grand fashion. I'd love to see your version of this.

I had to get in on this KS too, I just wished they didn't have it this month I would have had more money to spend at any other time of year.

Yeah, I wish I could have bought in for more. Although we've got another chance when the backer kit comes out in a month or so. I'm really curious to see some WIP pictures of the Rum and Bones crossover or at least know who's sculpting it. That could be very tempting to add to my pledge too.

Love the KS, but yeah the timing was slightly off. Only bought one miniature, also because I am buying Smaug the terribly overpriced and I need at least some money left for Christmas presents.

Is that Smaug from Citadel?

Yeah, the GW released a Smaug figure. It's a pretty massive resin piece and costs almost $500. The website says they're releasing only 200 before Xmas, so that implies they will be offering more later.

I think they did a nice job on the kit, great detail. But it's too expensive for me and I have no idea where I'd put something that big. At roughly 1/5 the price I am much happier with my Big Bomba purchase!
