Let me tell you a story.
Here in Sweden we in recent years had a movement that called themselves "bara bröst". Translated it means "bare chests/breast" (chest and breast plural and singular are both the same word in Swedish) or as a pun "nothing but chests/breast". They're fighting a war against womens' breast being sexualized. They do this by going to public bath houses (a group of girls, although there are male members as well in the movement) and go in there topless. The reason for this is equality. Men are not required to wear a top in the bath houses, but women often are. In most of these bath houses they will be told to go put on a top or get out. So, what's the difference between a nice chest on a man and a woman? Or a not so good looking chest on a man or woman? The point is there is no logical reason why women are required to cover their upper body other than "men rule the society". Just like men with a nice, muscular chest glistening from the pool water are allowed to flaunt it, so should women with a fine, round, gravity defying bosom (also glistening from the moist of the bath house of course). Or if you reason that you shouldn't have to look at saggy tits, said tits on a man is equally disturbing, so both men and women should be forced to wear a top. Not to mention some men are excessively hairy while I have yet to see a woman looking like Chewbacca.
Well, there you have it. I do have a standpoint in this one, but I'm not gonna say it because it's irrelevant (and I tend to play devil's advocate, which can be aggravating and seem like I'm trolling). Just wanted to share the story of a war that's being fought (in relation to moral issues).

Been following this for a while and almost posted earlier (my browser ate my post).
I actually have huge issues when it comes to the "equality" argument. If people want equality then it should be equality in EVERYTHING - including maternity/paternity leave - but that's another discussion
You can't pick and choose.Men and women are different by intention - both physically and mentally. Breasts are already sexualised, they have been for years, the day that stops is the day when every bloke in the worlds stops staring at a woman's clevage and women stop wearing clothes that present their breasts in a sexual fashion - a day I hope never comes as I quite like a pretty lady wearing a corset. It's widely believed that a woman's breasts are the way they are as part of the reproductive selection process so actually the reason they're sexualised is down to evolution and men are always going to be attracted to them as it's in (most) men's nature.
RuneBrush, I agree with your point about equality, but I would like to add something. Womens' breast are sexualized. Maybe there's nothing to be done about that. But so what? You speak in relation to your own gender. But what do those who like men think about male chests? When speaking about straight people, does anyone seriously think women are less attracted sexually by a handsome male than vice versa? Of course not. That would be absurd, and RuneBrush's argument about women dressing up to show off their body goes both ways - so do men.

That's another pet peeve of mine. Why do people look at media's representation of what the ideal human specimen is and feel bad, instead of talk to other, real people and ask them what they like? Seriously? Show me a girl who wants her bosom augmented and I'll whip out a hundred people who like small chested girls. Or a woman with a little extra? Who doesn't want something to hold on to when the thunder rolls? Humans are different, and so are bodies. And for every body type there's someone who likes it.
Well personally I wouldn't want to hold a 10 metre steel pole!
I've been appreciating Female architecture for well over 45 years in all shapes and sizes and have no problem being comfortable with a woman breastfeeding.
It's as natural as breathing, I don't see it as sexual, I see it as right, correct and normal.
To my mind, people who argue against the right to breastfeed in public, claiming any kind of sexual inference, need to "Take the mote out of their own Eye!"

To continue this, I think the whole puritanical obsession with censorship is beyond believed.
The US is particularly bad, allowing gross violence, but banning mild nudity. If a European equivalent of Whiney Houston had her breast exposed at a major televised event, I doubt it would even have been reported on.

Oh it would. You see Sweden is trying to be the US. The whole of USA's culture and mindset (not individual people generally, although they "mirror" to some extent their state) to these things is a result of the US being a very young nation and the "mistakes" the rest of the world points their finger at the US for making are the same mistakes every nation commits at approximately that phase in their history. These things considered that would be some pointless regression from our part.
Disclaimer: Before I get flamed by any Americans, please read my post again and realize my observation is strictly objective and based on history. You may not agree with my parallel between the life of a nation and a human being, which is fine by me. I just want to make clear that I, in no way, am trying to insult anyone.

While I have no problem with breastfeeding, it depends how it's done. As long as it's subtle, I don;t mind. Just because it's natural, doesn't mean I want to look at it. Peeing and sex are natural but I don't want anyone doing them while they are next to me having coffee either
