Plastic Wolfen

Hello!
I have a couple units of Wolfen to paint, hopefully all together. I\'ve decided to do just one model separately first, as a test.
Here it is after two sessions, the first one being cleaning and priming. In the second I\'d base coated the skin with a cool gray, then worked toward warm gray highlights, and then did a small amount of shading. That took me about two and a half hours. Before I take the skin any further I think I\'d better finish base coating everything else. Criticism is appreciated!

Hey. Looking pretty good, not really digging the sculpt though. I think perhaps that the colours of the light source you use when photographing interferes a bit with the colour of the skin. I\'m not really seeing the warm greys, which I btw think is a very good idea. I think the most important part right now is to make some natural focal points, like the face.. make it stand apart a bit more.

Hi Josh, I think you\'ve been very unlucky to post a plastic Wolfen WIP when there\'s one on the go at the mo that has the rather nicer metal figures in it (Join A Rackham WIP - Free Minis!).

But your painting looks nice & neat & clean. The highlighting on the thighs & bosom looks smooth too in the first pic. As Avelorn says, making the head lighter than the other highlighted areas will help draw attention to it. As you\'ve mentioned, get the basecoats in, particularly on the helmet, I think it\'ll really bring the figure out. And play with your photo setup to properly show off some nice painting :D B.

Well, he could always rock on over and join in the fun! :) As already said, a nice start. And it answers that age-old question of who ate all the pies in the Wolfen camp! lol

Painted this step, and took these pictures with a different light setup, an Ott-lite, a small light table and the angry stare of two naked florescent bulbs. I see I need to make some adjustments to the warm and cool tones. She is kinda husky!

I think the painting is nice, but the awful sculpt is dulling your skills.

Get your self one of the metal ones, you wont be disappointed. You will be surprised how your skills improve once you have a decent canvass

Almost done, debating whether or not to glaze different tones into the axe and skin. I have six others to paint in this unit, so I don\'t want it to get too time consuming. Criticism is appreciated.

Nice! I really like the tattoos and skirt, they\'re both very well done. I would say that you should do those extra glazes on the skin and weapon. To my eyes, they could both go for a little more added depth. I\'d also suggest that you highlight the hair a bit more to make it look a more \'glossy\' and more hair-like.

Brushed in a few areas of orange and blue to vary the tones of the skin, and made the highlights of the hair a bit stronger.
Hopefully I\'ll be able to get the others done in less time than this, now that I\'ve gone through it once. Either way I\'ll be anxious to move on to the next unit.

Granddad!
looks real nice, when you do the squad do them all at the same time, eg; do all the flesh first on all of them, then the next part etc etc

If you really want us to pick holes in.... er.. I mean critique your work you could try a slightly different presentation/montage. Keep the width you\'ve got now(or around 600 pixels) but stack the pics vertically, that will make them bigger, and for those of us with not so good eyes, easier to see :D
