Guys (and girls), I live in the UK and was wondering
1) Where to get plasticard
2) How to use this stuff
3) Would it work for an eldar helmet?

Cheers

1) Hobby shops, art stores, if your local gw staff are any good (most likly not) the should be able to point you in the right direction. Of course you can just order it off tinternet http://www.barrule.com/workshop/scratch%20builders%20paradise/sheet%20materials.html

2) Use aruler to score lines, then snap along the line to get a good clean edge, dont try and cut all the way through cos\' it can make the line wonkey.

3) Not sure, it depends what you have in mind..

Depends on what you want to use it for. Common method is to scribe and snap.

@ Einion: Your reply came when I was replying to alex, sorry about that. I was actually thinking of making one.

That would not be easy to do with Plasticard as it\'s rather rounded. Maybe start with card then add greenstuff or whatever your putty of choice is, but I can\'t see just using plasticard.

The thinnest type will bend, its just like thick paper, the thicker type you wont really be able to shape.

You might be better with greenstuff for sculpting.

AllPlasticard will bend if heated gently but it also has an Elastic Limit/Memory in that it will flex back towards it\'s original shape.

Junior elf, you may well be able to use Plastic card as a form on top of which you can add Green stuff or Pro Create to get the shape you want.

For something like that plastic card would form a good basis - you\'ll often see white styrene poking out here and there from beneath putty in photos of sculpted masters.

If I were going with plastic card I would cut the basic shape of the crest out (sanding & filing to shape) glue it in place and then form the rest of the helmet with putty, either MagicSculp or GS.

You could actually go an all-putty route for this if there were no plastic card at hand of the right gauge - roll the putty out to the thickness of the crest, wait for it to set and voila, custom sheet material. Lots of sculptors make rods and thin sheets with excess putty after a sculpting session, so that it doesn\'t go to waste.

I used to have the mini a long time ago that you linked (with the banner). Its actually a plume of hair a bit like you get on cerimonial solider\'s helmets. So a solid former sculpted with green stuff would be the easiest way. The solid former could be made out of milliput.

Another source of plasti-card is packaging you get with many things, or if you enjoy being slightly destructive - tupperware tubs (i.e. food storage containers). Mind you, Hobby Craft sells some plasticard as well.

This is a good idea. Styrene has a hard \'snap\' that you can get to know but best way to identify it for sure is to look for the recycling symbol with 6 or PS in the triangle (flat cheese containers, psuedo butter spreads are often made of this).

Tupperware is made from a softer plastic, a type of polyethylene (LDPE).

Thanks guys,
I also had 2 other questions:
1) What would glue should I use to stick it
2) if I was to buy from the internet does anyone know from where to do so but with using a postal cheque and not a credit card?

1) Normal Poly Cement
2) Pass - roughly where in the UK do you live, as some people here may know of shops near you

To itself, polystyrene cement (liquid in a small jar or gel in a tube). To other materials, superglue.
