Playing hide & seek with your minis

:cussing: Damn! I’ve been looking for a certain mini in my horde of lead and still haven’t found it.

So the question is “HOW” do you store and organize your stuff, so you can find what you want later???

I have one of those plastic drawers on wheels for most of my minis..... except for the limited or oop special ones which stay in their blister packs and are stored in a closet.

I remove minis and place in zip-lock bags, then put them in said drawers and you can imagine the mess that is.

Well, I probably don\'t have as many as you, but...

I followed someone\'s advice and have a DC rack as a shelf for my current projects.\\
Then I have the Army Transport (tm) storage trays for my gaming minis. I also have one of those trays for random minis and one for mini exchange minis.
After that, there’s the toolbox where I keep my knives and putty and cups etc. There are a few baggies in there with minis.
I’ve also got a couple small boxes for bitz and the very very odd minis.
Oh, and finished or mostly finished are on various display shelves about the room.
If you want some advice, I highly recommend the Army Transport (tm) storage trays.

Erm, I dunno. I always seem to find what i\'m after most the time. I keep all the minis for upcoming projects close at hand and sort of take it from there... It already sounds lke you sort them so that suggestions out... hmmmm???

But I can sympathise with losing a mini your looking for, but what really irks me is loosing a part of a mini...grrrr :cussing:

Oh Donna: I\'m sorry, but that has given me such a laugh after the Ultra neatness of your painting desk.
Sorry that I can\'t help you with advice for finding stuff, since I\'m as bad as anyone for tidyness, or the lack of it.

I keep mine in boxes and try to keep minis from the same manufacturer together. That way I only need to find the right box and then I know the mini I\'m after is in there. Very simple... at least in theory! :innocent:

Several old biscuit tins, some for plastic, some for metal, others for bits one big one for \"To be stripped\". Usually sort through what I want for my current work and have them to hand. (Honestly I treat them all more like bits tins)

I find if I over-organise, set things out in so many different comparments and boxes and such I *do* tend to lose things. At least this way I know it\'s there... somewhere, at least.

I have a closet dedicated to giant piles of minis...perhaps not the best organizational method...

I\'ve got the same closet, but between the kids and the animals, I always find them all over the house (still have a scar on the bottom of my foot where a particularly nasty specimen ambushed me on the stairs one night).

I have one of these....

It is very handy...I have the little drawers labeled....such as \"WYRD MINIS, TERRAIN, Etc.\"
Plus I have some big cabinets in my garage stocked full of other stuff....?:no:

I just use one of the GW mail order boxes. Blister packs are just stacked on a shelf :innocent: My collection of unpainted minis is probably about one hundredth of yours though!

We use stackable storage bins from home depot they at the best price and we each have one for bits, We have the shelf near the painting area for wips.

Then for the mass of \"other\" We use USPS boxes they are free and stack well and we mark each one with whats in them Limited editions, box sets, to do later.

The most fun Donna is looking for stuff. We get all the boxes out even if we know where the stuff is just to plan and scheme

Here are my storage boxes. It doesn\'t look like much, but it is a lot of lead. The left one holds all my paint and is a great little transport for all my tools and a few minis. The bright yellow thing in it is one of those rubber pads that help open jars. It works amazing for those stubborn paint pots.

The top center is all various plastic parts. Bah.... plastic.

The top right features my opened lead. there are two of those blue trays packed to the brim. It is a lot more than it looks.

The center holds all my unopened minis, but is pretty much out of room.

I also have a display case over my desk which has all my half painted dudes.

Hey I only have two modest (maybe ~1 gallon) Rubbermaid containers full of minis, and some of those are in smaller boxes so it\'s not 2 gallons of solid minis. You are not the only one without a hundred pounds of lead stored away.

Anyway in those 2 gallons there is little organization, though I keep my tiny collection of vintage GW wrapped and in one baggie, and all my Star Wars stuff in one box. Otherwise, it\'s \"where it fits\".
