Portable Game board?

Hey all,

Was curious if anyone has made a portable game board for good ole zombicide?

Our kitchen table isnt large enough for a 9 tile x 9 tile game, and our friends and family really enjoy the zombicide nights, often find myself going to others homes and such, with zombicide in tow, and not many people have a suitable table for a 9 tile game, with enough room to set around comfortably.

So I was thinking of making a portable table about 1.2 meters square, which should have enough room around it to comfortably have cards and cell phones and whatever else.

Now I'm no stranger to building, and I already have a pretty good idea on what to do about the table, their are also million different videos kicking around to do it.

However I find that often it's just better to talk to someone who has done it, than it is to watch a video.

So I'm just curious if anyone applied their hand to this?

What I'm thinking of doing is having the table top size, cut in half and then hinged so it can fold up into a very manageable 60cm "briefcase" with a carry handle. Was thinking a simple 1cm thick plywood top, and have it covered with that no slide, liner...stuff. You know what I mean, haha.

Sand it and frame it with proper joins and that would be that, no splinters nice and smooth edges. The problem is the legs, how tall should it be? what do you think would make for a good sturdy table without being over kill, 4 legs? 6? Do I get proper table legs? 2x4's? and just have blocks underneath they can slot into?

I guess thats the real hitch, the table top itself isn't terribly difficult to manage, figuring out the legs is another though.

You might try making just the top and gluing felt to the underside. Then you can put the playing surface on any table and not worry about scratches. The hard part will be recessing the hinges.
