I get them daily.
my paypal, ebay, bank, credit card, etc. account may have been compromised and will be locked unless I log in again \"HERE\". The fun ones are banks or credit cards that I don\'t have an account with.

When I am feeling like wasting their bandwidth, I\'ll go log in with an account name of \"sucker\" and a password of \"idiot\" or whatever I can come up with at the moment.

Yeah it\'s a scam, got it today.
I got some other \"fishing\" mail that I wanted to \"recover my password\" from Paypal. The thing is that the link seemed to be going to Paypals own site. BUT when I checked where it went it went to I got: \"http://www.paypal.com.alertpaypals.com/webscr/login.htm\"
Another peculiar thing was that It looked like I got the mail from a US paypal site. + that the template was an exact copy of paypals.
It didn\'t fool me, but it is the most convincing one I\'ve gotten to this day.

The cutest trick I ever saw, was a page that would draw an image of the valid PayPal address over the address bar. Unfortunately, it was a tad slow at moving the image every time you moved the browser window. (Yes, I sometimes go to these sites to have a fiddle) :innocent:

I just got an Email from the King of Nambupoo, and he wants me to go into business with him. See how trusting he is? He is willing to give me TONS of money and diamonds, just for helping him out.

And here I thought I was about to rip y... uhm, thought we were going to enjoy a bountiful relationship. I thought you would be good enough to marry my virgin daughter, the beautiful Princess Mzimthukilele, with hips to bear you one thousand sons and breasts to feed one thousand more. :no: Disappointed, completely and utterly disappointed.

Wow... how does that even work? Drawing an image outside the browser pane? Or was it one of those pop-up windows with NO address bar of its own and it spoofed it with a full width image?
Simply put, if you ever get an email \"from PayPal\"... do NOT log in using a URL in the email itself. Log in from a separate PayPal page (either from your bookmarks or enter the URL manually) and check it out that way.

Of course its a scam..no legitimate Credit Card company, your bank or even paypal will send you an email asking for details like that. Especially sent to a dear sir or occupant. If they indeed were sending you an email it would be Dear.. what ever your name is..and then Id be suspious.
Another thing to watch out for, a friend had a so called Finance company call him at home and say his loan was overdue on his car..they sort of baited him all the way saying this is Mr. (insert name) he said Im Mr. (insert real name) they were like..oh well whats your address is it... and he said no its xxx.. and they were like well is your social security number... and thats when he just about gave them his social when he caught on and hung up. He said they were real polite, if no acting like they were in the wrong and wanted to correct it.

Don\'t give out personal details unless someones holding a gun to your head and then Id think about it. They say the average Identity theft victem in the US spend 500 hours and $10,000 or more dollars to clear up their name.
