Post Your....Pet?

O.K. - this is a shameless attempt to up my posts, but I have been wondering what people have pets, what they are, or if you could have a pet what it would be. Also, who looks like their pet? I vote that Alexi has an Afghan Hound? (And for anyone who hasn\'t seen an Afghan Hound, I think they\'re beautiful with long, gorgeous fur.) If you haven\'t seen Alexi\'s pic on the PYP thread then just go to the last page - and be sure to wear a bib if you\'re male....<sigh>

Anyway, we (Grumb and I) have a dog - golden retriever/spaniel mix, with red hair like me, and two cats, Thor - BIG orange/cream tabby, and Loki - grey/black tabby. We\'d have a zoo except for two things - I\'ve realized I don\'t like to clean up after all these animals AND Loki is a class-A, #1 hunter. Anything smaller than him we bring into the house he will find a way to get it. Actually, he\'s taken out a few things bigger than him.

Thor, Loki, and Samantha (or Mantha for short)

We pulled those awful vertical blinds down and before I could get them out the door the cats laid down on them and wouldn\'t get off!

Oh, I have many pets.
Depending on the weather I have:
Spiders, flies, cockroaches, ants and many many more. :D
Noooo, just kidding. ;) My girlfriend has a hamster and two small rabbits and due to the fact we move together by next month I WILL HAVE THIS PETS TOO. ;)
I would favour a cat, but I don\'t think a hamster an a cat are good roommates. *LOL*
I will have to wait till the hamster will move to \"hamster-heaven\". ;)

I have had lots of pets, 3 birds, 2 hamster, 2 jump mice(Springmäuse, whatever that\'s in english) 1 bunny, 1 guinea pig and a cat. Not all at the same time of corse. At the moment I have no pet, because my mother don\'t what any new ones, but as soon as I have my one flat, I\'ll get a rat or a bunny or a cat. Or all.

Twin Pets!

@ Astonia - the first pic you posted looks just like our Loki! (I can\'t see him standing for us to put a hat on him though!) I don\'t know how to post pics yet, so when Grumb gets home I\'ll have him post one of all three of ours laid out in the floor sleeping.

I forgot to mention that while I\'m not allowed to foster pets *anymore* I transport rescuees through Atlanta - animals going from a foster home to a forever home, or going from a shelter to a foster home, etc. We\'ve had some beautiful animals come through. We kept one dog overnight that if he weren\'t going to a forever home we would\'ve kept in a heartbeat!

I have 2 Pommeranians (Barkley & Coco), a Miniature Pinscher (Pepper), a Himalyan cat (Miko), 2 short haired Tabby\'s (Tiger & McCavity), a Sun Conure Parrot (Sunny) and a variety of fish.

Right now I\'m in the market for a big dog and am either thinking of a Giant Shnauzer or a Golden Retriever.

I would REALLY like a Saluki, but my girlfriend doesnt want one.:(

Ok, I\'m in, my cat is named Gato, well, actually her real name is Carolina, but she was also born deaf, so it doesn\'t really matter what we call her. For a while she was just called \"the cat\" and then it got changed to Gato for a little style and it stuck. She is the destroyer of minis and the shedder that gets hair in all my paint. Notice her 2 different color eyes.

I think you\'re right. I had a hamster when I moved out on my own, and got a cat. (Like Sakura, my mom was very no pets, the hamster was a gift and I was away in a dorm then, so not much she could do about it.) This was a fat, lazy cat, so I figured when she watched the hamster all the time, it was just kitty TV.

After the hamster went to hamster heaven, I got her some fish to watch instead. I left the cover off the tank one morning, and when I got back home... no more fishies. Poor cat probably didn\'t know what to make of me crying out \'you ate your friends!\'. She spared me from two separate mouse invasions, too. She was a stray I adopted from a shelter, but had been found with a collar. I think those weeks on the streets left her pretty hungry and with a philosophy of eat when you can get it. ;) She ate an astonishing variety of people food, we used to call her Carbo Kitty cause she loved chips, crackers and so on. Ate raisins and green peppers a couple of times, too. The only thing she really didn\'t like was Italian food with tomato sauce.

That kitty sadly died, and I had to leave my other two cats behind in Canada when I moved (one liked my roommate decidedly better than me, and the other was too timid and jumpy for such a big change.) My husband already had a dog when I met him, a big black part Australian shepard mix named Shadowjack. (Just Jack for short, which leads to amusing phrases like \'hi Jack\' and \'Jack off\'.) We got a cat when we got married, a tabby that looks a lot like Astonia\'s pic, only a little bulkier and with less hat wearing stylishness. His name is Archer. Sadly Jack, being almost all black and shiny, doesn\'t photograph very well. And I don\'t think he\'d appreciate being Dullcoted. ;)

That\'s a smug looking cat, Eric. She has a look that\'s suggesting she\'s just ruined a couple of minis just for the sake of it. And she probably knows she doesn\'t get any proper punishment for it! :D

yeah, you 100% right on there, and she doesn\'t even try to hide the look. I probably tell her once a day that she\'s lucky she\'s so pretty or she\'d get herself kicked out! Of course she can\'t hear me...not that she\'d listen if she could.

Becca, you ferret is so cute! I always wanted one, but their illegal in California. And your dogs are making me want to get one, once I get out my little apartment that is.

Yeah, Eric... get a big nasty dog! That\'ll give your cat something else to think about than destroying your minis. lol

Stunning kitty, Eric! I\'d want one like that if I didn\'t have an allergy to cats.

My login is taken from my doggie. She\'s an irish setter, and the Irish Gaelic name for that is \'red dog\' or \'madra rhu\' or more colloquially, \'modder rhu\'. This is Ceallach (Kelly), she\'s my darling, my angel, my best buddy and most faithful friend - but don\'t tell my gf that!

I used to keep marine fish and invertebrates, corals and such. Here is the anemone I had and the resident clownfish.

Contrary to belief, it\'s not bad luck if he walks in front of you.. He\'s his own bad luck! (Ebby: why do you have to sleep on me when I need to get up for school?!?) :D

What a gorgeous cat! Unfortunately the blue eye-white coat gene in cats seems to be linked with deafness, even if only one eye is blue.

A couple of my Canadian cats had a similiar naming scheme. My roommate called one \'Little Cat\' all the time, so we just prettied it up as Tichia (petit chat is French for little cat, and it would often be elided to \'ti chat. Of course she ended up being 12 pounds of pure muscle and much larger than the other cat.) When we got another cat, I scoured the Web for alternate language terms for cat, and came up with Kiska, supposedly Russian for pretty, nice cat.

These pictures are great, people have some pretty adorable pets!

yeah, I knew she would probably be deaf when I first got her from her coloration, even though it\'s really hard to tell when their kittens because they\'re already so hyper, so I thought perhaps she was only partly deaf for a while. I decided it was complete when one day the phone was ringing and I found her asleep with her head on the phone not reacting to it\'s rather loud ring.

I really like seeing other people cats, because, if they\'re anything like mine, I figure they\'re all pains in the butt while trying to paint. :)

For a while she was called Bilka (I don\'t know if that\'s how you\'d spell it), which I was told is basically \"whitey\" in russian, but that didn\'t catch on as much.

Mhm, Gremlin is the cuddliest cat alive I think, and especially when I\'m painting eyes or freehand she just has to jump up in my lap, she forces herself to fit between me and the table edge...and then she just sits there, staring up at me. It\'s really cute. Getting her hairs everywhere on the painting table isn\'t as cute though...
