Posting Difficulty

I was wondering if anybody else shares this problem: You try to write a reply and then get stuck becuase you can\'t figure out how to spell a word - especially a common word that you would normally know how to spell. You think and think and finally come up with a similar word that you know how to spell.

I no some peeplz don hav dis probem, but I usually try to avoid reading (and writing) those type of posts.

Of a similar note: My best friend and I always say the verb drink, drank, consumed. Does anybody else do something like this? I know (for certain) that I am not the only weirdo on here, but is anybody else weird in this way?

Really long posts I do in word, saves those irritating moments when you lose the connection.

Short ones I have a dictionary to hand, or my wife acts as Spellchecker (as opposed to Broomrider). :D

Yeah, I do that.
I already know what I want to say, but when I start translating it to english I have to either change the words/ phrasing or to have a separate tab in Firefox with dictionary.com open :(

Yes I feel your pain. There are times when I forget how to spell something so I just open a blank email and type it in there and then spell check it that way. :D

Using the mozilla toolbar for dictionary is cool, as is highlighting the word, right-clicking and using the dictionary search. Only problem is, my firefox toolbar/options often go walkabout...got to reload them very so often which is annoying :(

I try to be as accurate as possible..

But that is mainly because people will take the piss as I am an ex-teacher.

Like Marineboy and Mr Farstrider I edit a lot after posting.

I generally ignore typos however, as this is not a contest in English or accurate typing.

What does get right on my t*ts however is deliberate mispelling and text-speak.
I generally ignore all such posts unless they have left an opportunity for me to take the p*ss;):bouncy:

Rich (housemate) and I would recommend a lemonade right now. Why are they so awkward in west Wales? Why make the beers so much stronger? Maybe they drink slower in their rural havens. Swines.

Time must go considerably slower in West Wales, it certainly does in Cornwall.

It feels like I got up three months ago, and I didn\'t get out of bed until the Grand Prix was half over.

Perhaps you need stronger booze to beat off reality on an extended time frame???

Either way, mine\'s still a pint;)

I too edit quite a bit after posting. I used to not care so much, as long as I got my point across. However, after getting made fun of in a certain thread I now feel self-conscious and now I almost always preview my posts and proof read them. If they are long, like this one, I type it in word first like Mike.

BTW, I went through that entire thread and edited EVERY post I made in word, and there was ONLY TWO spelling errors! The rest were typos. So there. :p

I\'ve reset my dictionary again to another type and it\'s all great fun...highlight, right-click, dictionary search, new tab opens, voila!
