Posting minis expressly for sale

Good work CA

Hey CA, I\'m new here and all, but wanted to say CMON is an exceptionaly well designed site.

I paint, but Im not anywhere in the league of the artists here. So let me throw it in from the gamers view.

I appreciate exceptional talent in art. A finely tuned paint job on a mini can really make the game side of things more enjoyable (instead of the run of the mill white army of death).

To date I have always painted my own mini\'s with a few already painted ones gathered up from friends when they quit playing. After viewing the talent here, I am actually thinking of having a few done by one of the pro painters. So I\'m in it for the game mainly.

Now lets say a few years from now I want to sell that army. I would certainly do so without qualms. However I would directly credit artist/studio for any work they did on the army. Anything less is shortchanging the artist.

So I guess my thought boils down to pay for premium work when you wish, but always credit it to the artist. No matter the setting... garage game, local tourney, store games etc. When someone says \"Dang that Big Bad Nasty of Impending Doom is the best I have seen\", reply \"thanks, an up and coming artist XYZ from NV Studios (free plug as I have one of their screens open too) did this for me on commission last (insert random month or year that applies)\".

Doing this supports both sides of the \"Hobby\" or as us regular joes call it Wargaming. The artists get a plug so that maybe more business comes their way (if they can keep eating then they can keep painting). The game is enhanced with quality tabletop pieces. Most importantly they are distracted by a need to explore the mini in close view while the boys sneak around and flank them.

I don\'t know about posting pics of mini\'s you didn\'t paint here. If I commissioned a piece and really loved it so much I felt the world should see it, then I would suggest the following steps. FIRST ask the artist (DUH!!!) \"Is it ok if I post that beautiful mini on CMON and credit you with it?\" Second, if the work is that good tell the story... \"I commisioned this from XYZ at NV studios (sigh another free plug)... how mini fits into army or how my request was envisioned by artist blah blah blah... you can contact XYZ at (insert link).

Again if everyone gets their due credit then we can all keep slaughtering plastic and lead to our hearts content.

just an FYI my work seems to come out to about what NV Studios calls level 2. The problem is it takes me months to do a squad to that level LOL.

Well, being one of those XYZ painters...:) I figured I\'d give my two cents...
I really don\'t have a problem with people postin things they didn\'t do, as long as they don\'t claim to have painted it themselves and give the artist full credit. One thing to watch, in my opinion would be double posting of a piece.....I think this may happen with a few of the sites who have mini-painting competitions and then post the winners here. Posting the same mini twice under different accounts seems a bit weird to me.
