Well...

You could consider that he\'s sharing some good minis so that everyone can see them, which is nice since they\'re not ugly... On the other hand it\'s not the original purpose of this site (am I wrong ?), where you\'re supposed to share YOUR work, to show YOUR skills of an artist, therefore, it\'s \"cheating\".

I don\'t blame people who post minis painted for them by their friends, but here it\'s minis painted by a studio, which he don\'t even own, so he should post them in a forum or something else, as his commentaries are like \"it´s my favourite mini from fenris !!! i just want to know what you think about it ! please post your comments because i want to buy it !!!\", it\'s not e-bay here !

Mueller has been informed that though he owns the pieces, the images still belong to Microart/Fenris, so he\'ll need to take his own pictures.

Nevertheless, Mueller is now being excluded from the Top Artists ranking, so the net effect is nil.

Toxicator has been banned for pinching pics.

Thanks for pointing this out PF!

Still I don\'t like the fact that he\'s putting up someone else\'s paintjobs. Then everyone could add one of his favorite pictures to his gallery and write as a command \"one of my favorite miniatures, not painted by me\". Isn\'t the favorites list a solution for his problem?

You\'re right Corvus.Personnaly I \'ve sniped him but I think we should all let him comments so he would feel so ashamed that he would remove his pics...
Tho maybe ask him gently to do could be a better solution....

Well,

I guess it depends on his motives. It looks like he has posted the same description (\"this mini is my favorite from Fenris and I\'m thinking of buying it- what do you think...\") on every one of the pics he has posted.

So if he plans on buying them all I guess Fenris would be happy. lol

I agree that a link in the forums would be better than posting all the pics direct if they aren\'t your own work.

I don\'t care if he painted them or not so long as he credits who did ... leaving him out of the rankings is a fine response though.

Isn\'t that a little psycho anyway? I mean either you like it and buy it - or not. Why would one need someone else\'s opinion on it then? ???

Have a nice day,

I had no idea, I will have Chern take care of it.

Well, my thoughts on posting other people\'s pics... I personally did use about 50 pics at the inception of CMON to seed the gallery, all of them were from event coverage pics from New Wave and i think I stated that it was on everyone of them.

Now, we have 25,000 odds pics, that is no longer necessary, so at some point I might just delete that account.

As for posting other\'s work, it all depends. If your buddy paints really well and don\'t have net access, sure, but randomly going to sites and find cool pics to post... somehow it will get back to me or Chern and we will take necessary steps to stop you from doing that ever again.

Also, if you buy someone else\' mini, more than likely the pic is already on here, there is no need to repost the same mini with a different pic.

So, if you guys and gals see something wrong, pm me and I will look into it and take care of it...

I think posting pics that are already up, and not yours, is a waste of the site\'s resources. Regardless of motive. Not yours though Dave. I understand what happened when the site began.

As a professional painter with Sorcerer Studios, I\'m fine with people grabbing our pics and putting them up on their own websites or posting them in egroups and messages boards, so long as they don\'t mess with our watermark and give us full credit for painting them.

However, I agree that CMoN is another affair. Don\'t do it to boost your overall ranking. As well, I\'ve caught a few people entering pics of our models in various online painting competitions, and only one of those people actually owned one of my models. Online contests are about recognizing the artists, not a contest about who OWNS the best collection of models, or even (gasp!) who can go around the Net and steal the best pics.

In fact, I\'ve seen other pro painters insist that their clients sign an agreement to not pass the contract work off as their own. Apparently, this came up because of a contest that Jennifer Haley judged in which she came across one of her own models.

I already did that and he just took the picture down and reposted it to get rid of the comment. But Chern has omitted him from the rankings so it all comes out ok in the end, although the whole thing is still annoying to see. And when he had Holger\'s stuff up he didn\'t do any crediting at all, just took the pics right from the website.

personally.....

Posting someone elses work without properly crediting them is a shootable offense where I come from.

Wasn\'t that John Wesley Hardin?

As for pinching others pictures. I must admit to having saved & printed Two artists work for reference Saxonangel & Elouchard. But to activley post up, with the intent of purloining the credit, a highly recognisable photo of someone else\'s work is WRONG!

Oh, good grief!

Regardless of motive, I don\'t like the idea of posting work by someone else. It doesn\'t matter if you give proper credit, or just want an opinon on something you want to buy, or whatever.

The site should be to let artists show off their work and get feedback on it. If there are copied pictures posted by non-artists, that detracts from the board serving its function.

If you have a friend who isn\'t \"wired\" and needs to post his/her stuff, be a REAL friend and let him/her have a little computer time to set up and post to a personal account.
