Potential Painting Event/Lesson - want your imput

Personally helping people learn to paint is an area from which i get great pleasure. Inspired by the recent threads and discussion on the Cool Mini Or Not Boards I'm thinking of running a Painting Tutorial Event.

Basically it will be something like this;

Here at Golem Painting Studio we'll organise the paints, glue etc, date (maybe april?) and the venue (probably in Manchester), and I'll be there to help people with the painting.

On the day we'll run something like 10 till 5 inc an hour break for lunch around 1.

Tickets would be around £35 and will include a 5-man box set of GW Space Marines, a large flat drybrush and a basecoat brush (worth £24.20) and obviously a 6 hour painting lesson (I normally charge £12.50 an hour - so 6 hours for less than the cost of 1 ain't bad ;))

I'll use these Space Marines to teach you the basics (of good composure, building, basing and painting), how I apply and use paint, freehand, etc

But also encourage you to bring a few other more detailed models you want to paint so i can help you apply what you have learnt to other models, or deal with any other areas you want to cover.

There will only be a limited number of places. So, question is, if we get this organised who would be genuinely interested?

This Marine below took me 1and 1/2 hours to paint, so hopefully I can help you all to produce something to this standard if not higher! For more images of my work check out my Cool Mini Or Not profile.

Genuinely interested? Definitely, worth the extra cost of the flight there? Absolutely. Sadly I'm not sure if I'd have the time but I'd definitely be interested if I had the chance!

sorry but i'm living in the Netherlands so a little to far :-(

I'm seeing a lot of these events done by mini painters here; i would love to participate in one of these events; are there any mini painters that live in the Netherlands?

The only way for me to learn mini painting techniques is going thrue the articles here and look at youtube. None of my friends (or any gamers locally) is anywhere near what i'm doing. (not saying that i'm a great mini painter :)

I feel the same way, those that actually are good at painting in my town are so full of it so they're mainly just bragging about how much better they are instead of trying to get everyone up to an equal level.

I will come if the help with the cost is there, it would be my pleasure.

that would be quite awesome! I'll start asking around to see if it would be worth it. Whats the minimum amount of people needed to make it worth it?

I'm interested. Sadly I have to save my pennies for a wedding. I thought it might be worth noting my interest and willingness to attend anyway. Given other circumstances i'd be a sure go.

If it's a success we'll do it again for everybody mate, cos you're all actually nice. :)

I would rather see something like the World Games Expo here in the states where all painters can come to talk and feed off each other ( painting techniques). Golem you're idea sounds great and I hope that you do get it going. It is always nice to have someone teach a novice to be better...

Man, that would be great to attend...alas, I'm 5000 miles away and a poor graduate student so I'll be content to glean what I can from your posts. If you're ever on this continent though...

Another mate wants to come now that's 3 of us from Liverpool. Maybe one more who I'm waiting on an answer from. I reckon he'll go though.
