Presentation question - Large graphic headers

I have a question for the CMON gurus out there. I see several people using very large headers on the tops of their graphics. I tend to use a reasonable resolution, (1024x768) but some of these heders are so large that when the voting page comes up most of the mini is below the visual area of the webpage and requires scrolling.

I am of the opinion that you only have one chance to make a \"first impression\" and that most people look at entires in the same way that most corporate executives look at resumes, if you don\'t get the attention of the viewer in the first five seconds you aren\'t going to get them to do things like scroll down to see if there are more angles to the picture.

Am I being off base here? Or is there a point where the size of a graphic header can hurt a score here?

Those annoy me sometimes but keep in mind that a lot of these are for \"studios\" - they\'re basically advertising their painting services. Which I don\'t mind at all, everyone\'s gotta eat Anyway my point is that most of us will scroll down past that, but we will hopefully associate the \"header\" with the well-painted mini beneath.

If the header is larger than the mini... that\'s not so good :O

I\'m not sure I know what you are referring to, but I just want to say any time I have to scroll puts me in a bad mood.
I always try to size my pics so you can see head to toe of the mini on an ordinary monitor. Then, if you like or are curious, you can scroll down for the back shot, close-ups or whatever else I stick in.

I don\'t know if the bad mood affects my score but it would affect my opinion of the brand.
I would prefer any labeling be done at the bottom of the pic.

My personal point of view is that a large header can detract from the image and affect my appreciation of the picture I am being asked to vote on.
There are submitters who embed an Icon into the photograph which improves the veiwing and appreciation of the image.

If I was to add an Icon I would ensure that it was at the bottom of the picture and not impacting on the Mini.

As I said not a rant just a personal point of view.

The mini should speak for itself and the logo should be tastefully discreet. Your mini just screams \'Pound Stretcher\' otherwise!

It\'s easy to spot the people who know what they\'re doing and those who are just pimping their (usually inferior)wares....

I also think large multicolour banners on the photos are distracting. It\'s slightly better if they are below the mini in question, but I prefer disctrete logos embedded in the photo somewhere were they\'re not obscuring anything.

They are very distracting. Please put them at the bottom or embed them in the picture.
