Yeah, it\'s sometimes hard to keep up a routine!

I just know what I want - I want to paint, I also want a flat stomach, and that involves 4 nights a week at the gym!

If you want something, there\'s no point in wishing for it, it will never happen - you have to go out and do it!

Here\'s a sarcastic joke I saw one time that fits..

Ritual for Losing Weight:

1. Gather minis in big boxes

2. Lift minis

3. Set minis down

4. Repeat

:p

Jeez... I just realised I sound like a really fat guy that eats nothing but curry and drinks lager all day lol

Honestly everyone, I\'m quite health conscious and I\'m not fat. I just have a bit of padding around my middle... and of course the aforementioned flabby pecks. They were a blessing when I was producing art as part of my degree (don\'t go there!) but now is another matter. lol

Does anyone know where to get the Aliens figures I talked about earlier? They were about 1:35 or 1:45 scale, I can\'t remember, and depicted the main cast of Aliens.

Hey DJ.

I may have seen some aliens miniatures on UK Ebay last year! Rings a bell but I\'m not too sure. You could trawl through Ebay on the off chance that what you\'re after is there.

DJ: Are you talking about plastic action figs or resin cast models? I never heard of Aliens figs in the sense of Pewter miniatures, but Ebay\'s always a help...

Chrispy/Sturmhalo:

I saw them about 10-12 years ago when I was at college and had no money to buy them - they came in 2 seperate black boxes, half the cast in one, the other half in the other box.

The front of the boxes just showed a picture of them painted, so they were either metal or resin. There were none open, so I do not know for sure! I would guess they were about the size of a GW figure, but again not exactly sure, maybe a little bigger.

Hmmm.. Aliens came out when I was really young and all I remember is some of the stuff aimed at younger buyers.. In all actuallity, wasn\'t even born when the first Alien movie came out.. But they do sound cool though.. I\'m sure everyone would like to see Aliens/Predator in 25 or 54 mm form.

Now that I think of it, they were metal, the boxes were quite heavy, resin is just as light as plastic!

You see, the M41a Pulse Rifle has to be the coolest film weapon ever, and I just want the figures!

The M41a is based on a real-life Thompson M1A1 sub-machine gun used by the US in WWII. I actually have a copy of the plans for the M41a - they were designed by a real gunsmith, and the weapon is not really all that far fetched!

The Thompson M1A1 fires .45cal ACP, a cartridge that is about 11.3mm wide by about 22mm or 24mm long. The M41a is supposed to fire 10x24mm cartriges, just at rifle velocity, so it could, I suppose, be really manufactured by someone one day!

The smart guns were also cool, and they were basically mounted on a camera tripod. In the game Aliens Vs. Predator you get to play with all these goodies.. If the game is as realistic as the movie, I beileve a clip size is 99... them\'s a lot of bullets. :D

As a side note, Ridley Scott is going to be knighted!!

Yeah, the magazine is supposed to have a \"U\" bend, with 50 rounds on each side and a really powerful spring. Only 2 or 3 working versions were actually made, and they fire blanks in the movie. All the rest in the movie are actually made from rubber!

There is also a version that had no grenade launcher - it had a bipod and a 300 round box instead, but it never made it into the film! It was meant to be a futuristic version of the M249 SAW, the real gun the US army uses (it has a 200 round box!)

The \"Smart Guns\" are another favourite of mine, being based on the German MG42, also from WWII. Believe it or not, they are just MG42s with weird handles mounted on handy-cam mounts! A few wires here and there, and voila!

They have a new barrel sleeve to make it look like 10x26mm, instead of the original 7.92x59mm.

I\'ve just found a box of actual aliens on Ebay UK! They\'re by Leading edge games and dated 1992. Item No. 3102751473. They come in a kinda black box!

I looked on the solegends web site and Leading Edge Games made sets of colonial marines which include all the characters. Not sure if that\'s what you\'re after. Don\'t know if those models are available now though.

Hope they didn\'t ruin perfectly good original MG42\'s for those guns! An original MG42 is something of a collectors piece. Though I guess they are still in use around the world in the hands of nefarious individuals and organisations.

www.ebay.co.uk

You should be able to find the item by clicking on search and then searching for the actual item number (I think).

Failing that just give me your e-mail and I\'ll forward the page and details to you. It has a send to a friend option you see.

After WWII, in the 1950s, when the German army was allowed to re-form, they still used the MG42s, only they called them M2s or something like that - the German army still uses them today, but they have a different name and very slightly different shape. They almost certainly fire 7.62x51mm NATO instead of the WWII 7.92mm round.

The Spanish army use a machine gun called \"Ameli\" or something - it looks EXACTLY like a miniature MG42, but has a completely differently internal mechanism. It fires 5.56x45mm NATO (US .223cal), hence it is smaller.

Think it became the M3 under the Bundesheer. MG42 was (is) the worlds greatest machine gun! Lovely weapon aesthetically as well I think!
