hey guys(and gals),

well, lucky for me my first year of uni is finally over so i\'ve got 4 great months of painting :p

so just to get myself back into the painting thing, ive started this primaris psyker, please dont hold back on where you guys think it can be improved because i really wana pick up a demon this year (i made a promise to myself years ago i\'d have a demon before im 20, which is a month after this golden demon lol)

I really like what you have done to his head until now! :) Looking forward to see more of this mini from you.

Just a little idea from my side: He looks quite healthy to me...but in my mind most imperial psykers (apart from librarians) have a rather unhealthy or fragile physique, if you know what I mean. Problem of playing with warp energy and so on.
Maybe his skin could be a bit more...dunno...some hint of blue veins, of age, on his head and hands? Would make him look older, maybe, too. Again, just an idea. ;)

Also, to walk away with a Demon without stealing it would require more than just a splendid paint job. Using a standard mini makes it harder to win I think. Either give him a very, very interesting base or convert him. A \'standard\' miniature, no matter how well painted runs a big risk of getting lost \'in the masses\'.

It looks like you\'re doing a great job but I\'d have to agree that the psyker will probably look more visually interesting if he has a bit paler complexion with some subtle veins running over his head. And give it a good think about the base. That will be you eye catcher to draw in the judges and it\'ll be your ultimate selling point between other \'standard\' mini\'s in the competition.

While we\'re at it, I think a really cool glow effect on the gem-thing under the Imperial Eagle on his staff would be a nice eye-catcher, too. Like he was just about to frag someone with pure warp lightning. :cool:

Blue would be the classical colour, but maybe something more exotic would be nice, too...

P.S. Maybe it would be possible to build some warp lighting around the gem? Out of veery fine wire or something? And that stuff painted glowing, looking hot...that would be a cool effect I think, and you would have a bit of conversion in it ;)

P.P.S. Would never been able to pull that off myself, so just ignore stuff when my mind goes too crazy. :p

thanks for the replies guys :) first things first, this is not a golden demon entry, its just something to see if i can still paint. I do agree about making him looked aged though.

You can still paint thats for sure! I like the skin tone a lot, but as others have said it might not be suitable for a psyker.
