Duplicolor Sandable Primer comes in Black (as well as gray, white, and rust-ish). Goes on smooth and fine, though not as smooth as Tamiya.

$5 a can with tax locally at various auto parts stores (Autozone, O\'Reilly\'s, NAPA Auto Parts, etc). Not all stores will have all colors though.

I have a question, does it make sense to any one else, that you could use brush on white primer and a drop of black paint or what ever color in it to make it the shade you want??

I have not tried it yet but since I have read others opinions on primer color being black would that paint addition make the white brush on version primer weak?

IIRC Dragonsreach does that. He use\'s white primer with a drop of black to get a grey.

You bought some yesterday? What the heck its been out forever where i live.

Black? and it was primer not paint (grey can)? Cool ill have to check GW and see whats up. Tamiya sounds like the next best. I thought the automotive stuff was not the right kind? Hmm ok ill check that also.
Id dont know anyone thats a good painter thats uses a hand brush on primer. I could be wrong but spray speeds you up and also gives a smooth finish to work with. (or supposed to be smooth lol).

Reaper has a brush-on black primer. I\'m sick to death of the orange peel skin I get from spray-on primer, so I\'m brushing on from now on. It\'s just too humid here most of the time, and I don\'t want to spray in the house.

I like having both the spray and brush on varieties. The brush on is helpful for when it is too humid to spray or if I need to touch up.

Yes that is correct I used it on the Spyglass mini you saw Matty.
Tracy: You can get any colour primer you want mixing the Vallejo Foundation White and you do get a much smoother coating than using the primer alone.
It dilutes like ordinary paint and dries as fast as GW\'s Foundation paints..............I wonder if that\'s where they got the Idea?

I don\'t think the GW primer is discontinued per se, as I was just in the GW store earlier this week and the primer is in a new style of can. I don\'tknow if it has a new product code or not, but hey its GW.

@atronach: i just checked the gw online store, and the black spray can is there...my lgs has it too...the main confusion could be from the fact that gw calls it\'s white primer*drumroll please* white primer!!!, but they call the black primer chaos black...it\'s in a blue can with a black lid...
when i lived in the third world, all i could get was car primer...seemed to work fine for 25% of the price...i got the grey, sprayed it, and then painted my usual layer of black touch-up over it...sorted...
can only remember usin\' the brush-on primer once, when i was in dire straights(no not the band)...worked fine, as far as i can remember, but it did take a lot longer...don\'t know why gw calls it smelly primer, as all paints smell funny to me...

cheers
jah
