primer over primer

Perhaps another job for the Chaos Black? :D Mind you I can't talk - I've started getting my first grey hairs at 14.

Grey I don't have a problem with, going thin is just plain annoying though :s

I tend to use GW undercoats on most minis without any issue - resin I will give a coat of grey plasticote primer first though and then undercoat with a GW spray.

Dettol does work for cleaning mini's (the brown stuff) as I did a load the other day. I found that the paint turns "rubbery" and melts off. When it does melt off it's evil and will adhere to anything - a plastic bowl I used to pour/soak in is still pebble dashed with paint even after two runs in the dishwasher and the toothbrush I used is quite manky now! The surface of plastic's do seem to go a bit tacky (this "dries out" within a few days) - this includes slotta bases!

I'm just interested :)

Because Grey is superior?

I'd be curious to know the answer too...but I'll bet it's the 'plastic-coat' is designed to adhere better to the resin, giving a smooth coverage, the black undercoat is probably because he prefers to paint over black.

I can't answer for Rune, but I wish I had thought of that before. Ever try to prime a white resin mini with white primer? See any problems there?
It's not until you start putting paint down that you find the spots you missed. Paint and unprimed resin are like water and oil.

As guessed by Vikey the plasticote covers (primes) the resin a lot more reliably than straight GW spray. It also means you don't have to be quite as thorough in washing the resin (not that I'm lazy or anything). Plasticote is just a manufacturer name (I've found it in Homebase and Halfords before), and they do a range of colours - I just have always stuck to the grey primer (if it ain't broke and all that).

I have painted on top of it before now as well - generally if I've run out of GW spray...

I recently switched to Vallejo primers. I mostly use the airbrush type but the spray can one is top notch! I always found plasticote paints way too thick to use properly. They sometimes have a rubbery finish that whilst great for stopping people knocking the paint off your garden chairs is murder to paint on.
Bottom line is they'll work but they're not really for miniature painting as they sometimes have a high build property.
