try badger for ab primer. way better than vallejo - sandable, and tough.

I've also been having success with Vallejo Polyurethane black and grey primers. I'm struggling with the white though. Out of the airbrush no problems, blast on a couple of thin coats - job done. However it's the most fragile primer I've used, so got to varnish with this one IMO

I had the exact same problem with a couple of bottles of the black vallejo primmer a few years ago, it ended up pealing off damaging the paint work have not touched it since

There's many other ways you can go about priming... Airbrushing Vallejo primers. Pre-shading with Games Workshop (or whatever other brand you like), chaos black primer sprayed under the mini - directed at the shaded parts. Gray for mid-tones and then pre-highlight with white primer. The list goes on and on...

At the end of the day. Tamiya's Fine grey primer gets the job done. Provided you've done a nice prep of your figurine and primed him/her.. Now it's just a matter of working your paints with good brush control to get nice base-coats down, highlights and shading. Then of course, fine details. Fun, fun, fun. Trust me. Tamiya's fine primers work a treat

Thanks everyone for feedback I really appreciate it ! I'll be happy to try something new, I was never a fan of GW's chaos black but it was what I always used. It will be nice to banch out! Hopefully I'll have my first miniatrue up in a few weeks??????

The primers I've tested are: GW Chaos Black, Vallejo Black, Stylenrez Black, Krylon Fusion Satin Black, Tamiya Grey Surface Primer, Stylenrez Grey, Vallejo White. Apologies about the crap audio in the video, it's not how any of my other videos are.

Been a while since I had a chance to paint but I tried out the badger black primer vs vallejo black primer... I'm sticking with Vallejo! Probably nothing wrong with the Badger stuff and I need to apply more of it or differently but after 24 hours curing the vallejo primer is hard but badger scratches off with my nail. I'm not saying the Badger primer is bad just that I got the Vallejo working better so far so will be sticking with it for now.

You didn't perchance thin it did you? Cause that would chance it's bonding property and make it not adhere like primer anymore

No thinning, straight out the bottle into the airbrush. I think it was because I didn't apply it liberally enough and dusted it on a bit too much, I've made this mistake with Vallejo primer before. Likely I just need more practice and also not sure how crucial the 0.5mm nozzle is as mine's 0.4mm... In any case I've made mistakes on test models and not waited for things to dry at all and no matter how abused after some varnish they are all tough enough to handle.

well, you can brush it on too as it is self leveling. Good thing if you just want to prime one small mini really quick
