Speaks volumes about the phrase and what it (doesn\'t) mean.....:)
Very true Scott.!

you dont see brands as ferrari, remy martin, hennessy, cohiba, bentley or whatever airing commercials on tv? why? because they are high quality products for a \"certain\" group of people and so are high quality painted minis ;) (sometimes even as expensive lol ) [/quote]
Things like that would\'nt need to be advertised as professional because they already have a name for themselves, when you start out doing some you need a way to grab peoples attention and thats why the term \'pro painted\' is used. If your work is good then people will buy from you again, if its that bad they won\'t buy from you in the first place ,once you have a name for yourself you can drop the pro. Anyway some people only want table top quality for gaming and some people paint at that standard as a \'profession\', need I say more;).

Thanks for all your guidance. Its seems the line between pro and amatur (?) is hazier than my memories of a drunken night out :D

@Brother Tom : I agree there. Im not looking to make a living out of it (im quite happy on the penuts my curent job pays me :D ). It\'d be cool if i could have a \"self sustained\" hobby

I think ill practice my photography a bit more, it seems a better way forwards.

Just to repeat what others have said, be honest but don\'t undersell yourself, if it\'s gaming quality say so, if it\'s Golden Demon quality, say so.

I build and sell scale model cars and, despite having sold dozens of models on Ebay, I never claim that they\'re pro-built. I just say \"build to a high standard\" and let the photos speak for themselves.

Always put a gallery thumbnail in so that people can see a picture in the main listing and put in as many good quality photos as you can. Ebay\'s photo hosting costs money, if possible, host the additional photos on another website and link to them in the description using html.

I never use reserve prices, I always start the model at a price I\'d be reasonably happy with and I\'ve sold every single model I\'ve listed.

Good luck and I wish you all the best.

Rab.

Why don\'t those on this site make a yahoo group or other and circulate particular buzzwords for those \'in the know\'? It would mean that those who genuinely want to have decent minis can look under a certain search word and locate quality minis. The words \'genuine\', \'quality\' and others could be harnessed to make people aware of a particular group of painters\' work, although this could also be hijacked. It all depends on what you think of the whole issue. Supervike is correct on this and consistently makes the same standpoint. He\'s right you know! On the other side though, a grouping would appease certain people who want quality without being tricked all the time.

We can have a secret society lol.

We could even have a secret handshake!
As opposed to the handshake I\'ve got this morning, through lack of sleep. Met up with KittyKat23Uk & her dad last night and missed the last regular scheduled train. Had to wait until 01:25 for the next one.
I get up at 05:00, so the alarm wasn\'t my friend this morning.
