Sorry if this has been brought up before.

This article states that the head of GW got a three year 1 million pound bonus to bring his earnings up to 1.2 million for the year!!!

I don\'t know what impresses me more. The three year bonus or the fact that his salary without the bonus is already over 800,000 pounds.

And people have the nerve to complain GW staff are underpaid. lol

whoa! If you took all the money I have made in my lifetime, I doubt it would weigh over 50 pounds..

800,000 pounds is like 10 times heavier than that!lollollol

In all seriousness, I am always amazed at what an \'average CEO\' earns as his/her compensation package. It is not odd to have it be thousands of times what an average worker at that same company earns....Does this mean that it would take 1000 workers to do that one CEO\'s job?

GW staff are ridiculously underpaid. To the extent that when I was interviewing potential staff, I was almost embarrassed to tell them what their salary would be. It\'s not uncommon for a GW store manager to earn only £12-£13k per annum.

Obviously, the other end of the GW ladder aren\'t so impoverished

Probably why I\'m not in business, but I\'d think it would do more good for the company to give 1000 people a 1000 pound bonus than to give it all to one person.

Wouldn\'t it be funny if they\'d have given it to him in product? Even at retail prices he\'d have to rent a stadium to field his 600,000 space marines. lol

Brushlicker and Freak!
Damn! Wish I could persuade my bosses to give me a 368.9% pay rise (rather than the 2.5% I just got).
Although we did get a $1000 bonus this year, just a shame the tax man took half of it before I even got to look at it!
I don\'t think anyone should earn more than 1 million a year, unless its me :D (or in Lira... ;) )

Herb the Bitter...you got me in your signature strip! Cool as f##k! I spoke to Sturmhalo and we think it was in connection to the R Lobinske jobbie. I\'m going back to read it if it\'s still out there :)

On the subject of the pay-rise, if you were at the top of a business and effectively owned it, wouldn\'t you have lots of money to play with? It would be normal I feel.

Aye.

jsut a quick footnote

for those not familair with British pound to american dollar conversion, currently it\'s about 1.9 US dollars to a brittish pound

so we are talking about the GW CEO making 1.5 Million, and gettign an almost 2 million bonus while store managers earn roughly 25,000 in american Dollar terms

Come on, does this surprise anyone? The only difference between GW and any other Big Faceless Corp is that they make a product we like (well, those of us that don\'t yet hate their minis that is). CEO\'s that are willing and able to make tough business decisions (like slashing jobs and pay) that increase share price get rewarded by the shareholders.

Since the real librarian is noticeably absent....You are right, that was during the infamous R Lobinske days...Those threads rear up no and again, and they never fail to make me laugh (and shake my head in increduilty)

I never understood how corporations get away with this crap. you would think with crappy sales people customers would go where the service is better. But I have also found that people will get the information from people with better service and then buy the product from the cheaper source. And that is something that always used to piss me off. Now I\'m not in sales I am in automotive service and we just tell people, \"you have been warned that continuing to operate this vehicle without further repairs makes an unsafe condition.\" And people do it all the time. Always going for the lowest price.

The thing is, GW aren\'t a cheaper source, nor do they have better staff than other miniature retail outlets. The big factor with GW stores is the sheer amount of product they stock - nigh on the entire range of warhammer, 40K and LotR.

So how they manage it is unknown to me! ;)
