So it\'s another one of my random projects. No, not a commission, I\'ve got enough of those. This is a personal project. This is something I\'ve been wanting for a long time.
This would be a more long term project. I figured I would post in this forum rather than the WIP since I\'m not quite starting yet and have a lot of questions.
Wait for it..... wait for it.....
Ultramarines army! Not just any Ultramarines army, but one using all old models. I want this army to look like it came straight out of the 2nd edition Codex, and that includes the paint scheme and painting style.
This is going to be the most bright, obnoxious, flamboyant and flashy army I have ever painted. It will be old \'Eavy Metal style. I want my opponents to be afraid of losing to it, for fear of being shamed.
\"Skull on his shoulder pad? What, paint it Bleached Bone? No way! Paint it Blood Red!\"
\"Barrel of a rocket launcher? Well, that will have to be painted bright yellow with black flames on the barrel!\" (see the marine in the right hand side of the 2nd edition Codex cover. Isn\'t that great?)
Check out these Terminators. I just love that flamethrower that\'s all red and yellow. Super bright. Super awesome. And there\'s a gigantic banner on the sergeant. Even better
Every single sergeant, character, and anyone else who looks important WILL have a banner. A huge banner. On a pole that\'s stuck to his backpack. lol
So now for the nitty gritty.
Here\'s a test Terminator so far, dug up from my bits box. He still needs arms, another highlight of white on the edge of the blue armor, highlight the yellow, etc. But you can see the effect I\'m after. Bright red skulls all over, etc. There will be hazard striping all over the lightning claws, and each of the blades will be bright red. Yummy.
What should I do for basing? Half of me wants to do the good old Goblin Green base dipped in flock, but the other half wants to do something that doesn\'t look like a golf course. Maybe the old fashioned basing will help make the army look more authentic.
And of course any more tips and stuff are greatly appreciated. I started this hobby when the new Necron plastic stuff had just come out, so that was in 2001 I think. So I am not too familiar with stuff before 3rd edition.
You can all stop laughing now. I\'m serious about this project
lol
