or plot hole as I call it. I'm a big fan of the original.
I'm not happy not happy at all. There's not just plot holes connected with the two films but holes within the film it self, like a man who is scared to stay with the others and returns to the ship - 20 mins later he has no probs with messing around with a tentacle looking at him out of the water.
No character build up (didn't give a shit who got killed) poor script that could of been poor acting on some parts.

Alien was a mile stone in cinema, a true class act of suspense and horror that kept you watching with no action at all.
top acting with a Hitchcock style all set in a small space like rope. You hardly see the alien untill the end just its teeth borrowing from jaws untill the very end.
A Masterpiece.

Prometheus is NOT an alien film it's a visual treat that is just using the Alien brand to get people in to watch it.
Anybody going to see it be prepared to see a quality, big buget sci fi movie on the same lines as sphere or Saturn v
not alien or aliens .

It was my understanding that it is supposed to be a standalone movie and not be a prequel. But I have also read that you can't help but make the connection to the original. It had to be fun to watch?

I enjoyed it, just because it was pretty, next time I shall pay attention to the plot and pick holes! Like Milosh though, I was under the impression it was simply set in the same universe and not meant to be overly related (despite some bit which obviously are)

Damn Noomi Rapace has nice thighs...Also it seemed a total waste of Guy Pierce, what was the point? They might as well employed an old actor

Well it is not a alien prequel but a story told in the same universe....

And i liked it, extremely well filmed and the 3d effects where a joy.

A decent scifi flick, nothing more and nothing less. Not a lot of those around so ill take what i can get.

Well Andy now is your chance to trade in seeing this movie for a movie of her choice or a dinner date for something else that you may really really want. Think of it as giving flowers before you get in trouble.

i rather enjoyed it. not having seen alien for ages, i also had a great time watching it straight after, realizing some crazy links! never hoped for any answers, since i never really had any questions! it was, however, a beautiful movie, and i look forward to the sequel:O positively surprised with rapaces acting, never liked her in anything before, and fassbender is awesome as usual! i never hoped for ridley scott or james cameron to give me a deeper lore or mythology, just one hell of a ride when i´m at the theatre, i think thats just the way you should think before seing their movies...

take her to see snow white and the huntsman instead it is the better judgement call i should have made when i first heard negative stuff about this. It is as has been said call it a side story or just a tale in the same universe all you want tthere are scenes in this film that give it the impression of a prequel it isn't just dipping a toe in the pond of alien it cannonballs in and unfortunately splashes out a lot of questions that require a sequel to make any sense as it changes the world of alien to no longer make sense by needlessly complicating it

it does also have plot hopes in itself not just the ones mentioned but even stuff in regards to the opening scene by the end i was left feeling as though i hasd watched an extended trailer/prologue. Of a film rather than the film itself and i can't in all honesty say this is a standalone story in the alien world or prequel because of the big giant holes it now puts into the story

many say it is badly acted but in fairness i think it was lack of a script rather than bad acting there don't seem to be any scenes for character developmemt there are three scenes that have suspense in them but carry you with the story they do not some references and quips seem open ended as though they can be touched on in a nother story despite them being played out as finite in the film

for me this was an insult and a rip to alien fans they just cashed in with subtle referrences and then.overbearing ones in slapped together story with a very tacked on ending that felt more like a marketing assesment for another film than an actual film giger's art.is stunning the 3d isn't that great and what we see of apecial effects is nothing we haven't seen before and far from the jaw dropping ground breaking visuals wwe've come to expect from this stuff it really has one more chance if there is another film and it doesn't wow and fill in all that is now missing from the series. I won't watch another the avp stuff was a bad enough insult

Snow white looks good I might give that a go instead and save Prometheus for the DVD release.

I didn't like Snow White & The Huntsman. Kristen Stewart has barely a few expressions on her face throughout the movie, Theron overacted the way whats-his-name in Terminator Salvation did, and I couldn't understand Hemsworth. The story itself was OK, a good re-imagining of the fairy tale, but unspectacular.

I did really like the crow effects though. Really nice motif carried out (sometimes very subtly) throughout the movie.

that Kirsten Stewart can play snow white is for me a mystery, but then again i guess its lucky we have different taste all of us.

have waited for the new "alien" movie for years, and now my expectations are redused to zero. gutted really.

Well then Skelly, you cant be disapointed. Go see it, have fun.

Stop trying to make this movie the second coming, they dont make movies like Alien and Bladerunner anymore.

i dont get why people expected it to be a new alien, ridley scott was very clear with the fact that this isnt a prequel, and the sequel will be even less related to alien, they´re set in the same universe, that´s it! dont know why people expected what they did.

Saw Snow White the other weekend...it's not bad but not that great either. On the subject of plot holes - or rather cinema being rather different to real life - in Snow White you have the character who has been locked in a cell for most of her life getting free and in short order she is able to rally troops , ride a horse wearing full armour and then run up a full flight of stairs (still with the armour on ) without being totally out of breath by the time she got to the top. Wow... thats a really quick fitness turnaround.
