I got a 60gig one for xmas which I\'m well happy with but the I can\'t get it to connect to the net using the wireless.

It recognises me router etc and I put the right wep key in but for some reason it can\'t pick up an IP address any1 had any similar problems or know what might be the problem???

Might be similar to my 360 problem when I first got it.
It may be trying to take the IP from your computer.
You might try checking your router on your computer, setting up a pre-approved IP connection, and then manually connect your PS3 to the IP you assigned to it.

Have you chosen to do it manually or automatically? when i set up my 60gig wirelessly all the ip address it picked up on its own. Then when selected it just asked for the wep key and then it did it pretty much automatically.

If your router has a firewall, you may need to add ports for your PS3. I recommend Google.

I had to add something like 4 ports to my router, to allow my Xbox 360 access to the intarwebz.

this IS your problem do exactly what jester says..... you will have to manually input your ip connection and then you should be fine.

Geek here -

OK - start by having a look at your router. Have you enabled DHCP so that you automatically assign an IP address to each item that connects via wireless? I presume you don\'t have MAC filtering on, but if you do, have you entered the PS3\'s MAC address into the router?

Those are where I would start.

The other thing to make sure is that you entered the password using the correct case - as at least WPA passwords are case sensitive (not 100% sure with WEP as don\'t go near it myself).

Aside from that - WEP is not a good security tool. If your router supports it move immediately to WPA for some security that can\'t be broken within about 2 minutes.

Give me a shout if you are still stuck as I have a multitude of experiense with configuring Wii\'s and PS3\'s as well as other bits and bobs round my house wirelessly

The other thing to watch for with WEP and WPA besides the key being case sensitive is that the key for my Linksys displayed the same figure for 0 and O but wanted different entries. Same thing with lowercase l and 1. My advice also would be to switch from dynamic to static IP addressing.

Well I suppose that makes me pretty unique lol

How do you break a few more of those laws of physics then?

I\'ve finally got it sorted thatnks for the help Shaz!!!!

I had to resart my router and enter WPA security instead of WEP, it worked straight away after that. So if you play PS3 online look out for the name yetie101 and we\'ll hook up for a game!!!!!
