I struggled on which system to buy since well before Christmas.....but I just settled on the XBOX 360 this weekend. Gears of War is incredible....And I have been living out my zombie bashing fantasy with DEAD RISING.

Finn just bought himself a P3, and from all accounts, sounds like he is really fond of it....

Yeah, Im in the 360 camp and agree with Vike that GoW is incredible!! That said, I\'ll look into a PS3 once the price drops ina year or so - they were only just released here in NZ.

Im looking forward to Halo3

PS3 is indeed very nice, motorstorm especially.

Resistance: Fall of Man
Motorstorm
Call of Duty3

Call me a cheap bastage, but I really have issues spending that much $ for a console system. For the price, it better mow my frikkin lawn, change my baby\'s diaper, AND take out the trash.

Heck, I got issues spending $500 for a 360. Yeah it\'s cool, but until Mass Effect comes out, I got no reason to get one.

I\'m happy with my Xbox, PS2 and Wii.

Didn\'t you know its a lean, mean, grilling machine? The heat coming out of the think could probably cook a chicken breast in minutes!

I can\'t understand how you can buy a PS3. And here in Europe I would definitely advise against it anyway. We Europeans pay more and get less - our PS3 does not even have the emotion engine anymore! For those that don\'t know: The emotion engine is the PS2 chipset. That means backwards compatibility is a total joke.
Sony has done enough stupid stuff to make me not want to fund the company anymore.
Trying to force Blue-Ray into the market is a seriously bad idea, as far as I\'m concerned - the price is higher than HD-DVD and HD-DVD is already well established (or at least better than Blue-Ray). I smell another UMD.

Now while I admit that I am a Nintendo fan and love my Wii to bits (and therefore am biased like god knows what) I also have a keen eye on the Xbox360. However, the PS3... can\'t implement good motion sensing and remove rumble too? It\'s going backwards. Then severely limiting backwards compatibility for us and telling us that we would be stupid if we played last-gen games (which, by the way, look worse on the PS3 than the PS2, or so I thin from seeing comparative videos). Finally price the unit at 699€.

Against popular opinion I am not enough of an idiot to buy this one. Devil May Cry is nice.... and... um... is there any other exclusive title left?

Heathens!

Well I have a PS3 and I think it\'s great! Far cooler looking and much quieter than my 360 (sorry supervike). I\'ll have to pick up Ridge Racer this weekend and let you give me a trouncing Shaz:D

The backwards compatibility problem has been vastly exagerated and is constantly being updated via firmware. The 360 was/is far worse in terms of backwards compatibility IMO. As for exclusive titles...I don\'t care about exclusivity, I just want good gameplay and Sony has by far the biggest range of games available.

So there:p

That in no way guarantees good gameplay though. Historically the consoles with the fewest games available tend to have the majority of really classic games on them. Quantity doesn\'t mean quality!

And Mosch, the sales of the PS3 compared to their previous consoles actually suggest that popular opinion is pretty much going the way your thinking is. The sales so far certainly haven\'t been stellar.

Or did you mean that popular opinion is that you are an idiot? ;)

Oh yeah, and what\'s with them using the Spiderman font for their new logo? Seems very sheep like for a company that has always tried to be cool and trend setty in the past with its consoles and games.

Very true about quality/quantity, but I don\'t buy the whole argument.
Those games you refer to tend to be \'really classic\' to the few anoraks who were stuck with them when everyone else was out playing something else...A bit like how you parents tell you the Blitz was actually quite enjoyable..all that cammeraderie in the shelters etc:D

True, I am talking critical acclaim rather than populist acclaim here I suppose. I do generally side with the critical acclaim though, I\'m quite jaded towards computer games in general after an unhealthy amount of exposure to them in my lifetime, and it takes something special with anorak appeal to get me most of the time!

Not that something can\'t be popular and critically acclaimed of course.

Finn, I have read the list on Sonys website. What reason do they have to exagerate the problem? Also, updates via firmware? If that is true, then I am a little more at rest - Sony did claim that people are not interested in lest gen titles and would therefore not care about bc either.
And I may sound like an ass now, but exclusive titles is what it\'s all about. If a title is not exclusive I can also play it on a machine that costs less than one third of the PS3. You get a good range of available games by getting several licenses for exclusive games.
I\'m trying to piss on your fun, it\'s just that I don\'t see any merit in the PS3. If they halved the price I might be interested.... but then again... let\'s just wait and watch which part of the console Sony destroyed this time :D

Yes, I know, I eye the market very closely. I actually meant that popular opinion in my neighbourhood is that I am stupid enough to buy every single console as soon as it is available :D

I guess you\'ll have to PM me your PS3 identity of something. I have registered but don\'t know mine offhand.

Well....my first hand experience with the XBOX 360\'s backward compatibility is pretty depressing.

Several of my \'old games\' will not play. Why did I spend an extra 100 dollars over the cheaper 360? For shame Microsoft!

I haven\'t quite got round to trying any of my older games yet - not sure how it will cope with Guitar Hero!

Microsoft haven\'t impressed me either. I will belay the Sony/MS debate though as it is a little redundant.

Shaz! Have you played \'Flow\' (Free game with PS3...DUH! sorry:D)

I have spent half the day on it and it is really relaxing...Possibly the opposite to 99% of other computer games:D
