I am looking at the Forgeworld Fulgrim mini and wanted to get help with his plate.
How would I get those nice purple tones. I have access to vallejo game and air aswell as GW, who would be give me the nicest finish?
Thanks
Dave

I like to use VGC Purple, with Tiny amount of VAC Black as shadow tone. VMC Violet-blue or violet-red as lightning mix colour.
For Fulgrim I probably go Violet-Red .

Honestly, I find purple to be a very forgiving color (next to blue) so just pick a few you like and try them out. I love the new citadel colors - they have bunch of nice purples and purple/greys that I used on my first SDE mini; Vandella.

The most common purple problem is that people are using a "candy apple red" and a "sky blue" when mixing. This red is not a primary, it's actually a red orange, meaning when you mix it with blue, it comes out murky. Sunset red by Vallejo is a better choice since it's closer to magenta. But for this specific one- Violet red highlight (like Mr. Dragonsreach suggested), purple for base, and violet with either a darker blue or tiny amount of black. Hope this helps!

That Fulgrim is certainly more Violet than Indigo. The GW purples are now rather spiffing, and all within the same area so they don't provide a mixing up of indigos, violets and lilacs, just a solid purple. They'd be fine for the darker stages, but I'd introduce the violet from the Vallejo Game range into the mix when applying the medium tones and head up with increasing amounts in the mix from there.

Thanks everybody.
I think I will go with the vallejo paints as Mr. Dragonsreach suggested and Mr. Chrispy seconded.
So watch out for the mini soon.
