The thing is we have winter with snow and mud and other nasty things 6 months of the year, so everyone wants to show off as much as possible the rest of the year. But I remember when I was in California...the CARS! I still prefer clean air though ;)

Makes perfect sense - I should have thought of that, as the weather was the nicest it had been all year when I was there! I will have to avoid visiting in winter!

One day I will get a job and save my money and restore the old \'55 Bel Air.

(Bows low) Ahhhhh, you have been CHOSEN!

Not super into cars myself, unless it\'s a 50\'s chevy of some sort. Just moved into a new house late June and the neighbor has a restored 55 Bel Air...makes every guy that comes over go OOOOOOH...:]

Actually....

I think it\'s illegal not to be drunk in the UK...and France...possibly the whole of Europe. Wine for breakfast is not considered that unusual.

Not in my house anyway....

...\'specially if the beer has run out:D

AI - So what are you still doin\' here talkin\' to us?:flip:

Go get your drink on!

I myself don\'t drink, but don\'t begrudge those who do! Something to celebrate, and in this crazy world, why not!?

In some ways UK is liberal, but we still retain licensing hours imposed during the 1st World War:(

Europeans coming over here find it most strange...:flip:

Hey AI, Happy-happy.

So was the guy who took the photo also a little drunk, or were you just swaying around too much.

Er.. Europeans? ;)
Yeah, it\'s rather a shock to you when you\'re used to bars open till 3 AM or longer and then find out they close at midnight. It also has another effect. When Brits come over you\'ll find them drink at the same rate as in the UK and then discover they have three hours more. So, they get even more pissed than in the UK. :D

The last time I was in the UK was down in five oak green visiting one of my uncles.

Anyway my cousins took me out drinking, and when the bar closed it was still light outside. Boy did that throw me out. 11 o\'clock, I can\'t get a drink, but it\'s still light enough to do stuff outside.

odd

London *awed gasps erupt from his fellow CMONers* seems to be changing quite repidly regarding the number of late licences being offered - its pretty easy now to find bars open till 12/1 in the morning... and weekends, even later

Where as up north in the country the pubs just do lock ins all the time and blatently ignore the licence hours :D

actually, yeah, forgot about that... some of the longest drinking sessions I have had were in a pub in the shropshire hills... remember leaving at 6am once... :( after drinking inordinate amounts, including a bottle of mead!

Yeah, great stuff. Everybody feeling like naughty schoolboys, the windows blacked out and keeping the noise down just in case a policeman walks by outside. Just because it is after 11.00pm. What a bloody stupid country;)
