Things that are cute....
Little fluffy things are cute. Ickle baby lambs are cute kittens are cute labrador puppy dogs getting tangled up on soft luxurious toilet paper in the countryside are cute. The English Language is not. I put it to you that an American English speaker can say this shows how much they have diverged from one another.
The English language could be \"cool\" I think thats what you kids say these days maybe even \"wicked\" but cute it is not.
You know when you call a guy nice? Thats not good. This is worse.
Next thing we will be living in \"Lil\' old England\" and I\'ll have to shoot somebody.

Seriously though, I think people here (in the USA) tend to glorify other cultures (and accents for some bizarre reason) and act like they are somehow something special just because they have been to another country. I once had a customer at a store I was managing that was upset that I would not barter with him on price, because that was how they did it in another country he had visited for a period of time. The guy was just as midwestern as me, but somehow thought he was superior for havng visited another culture. Hmm, just got back from 2 weeks in Sweden, maybe I should go around and make everyone eat salt licorice since \"that\'s what they do elsewhere\" (of course, salt licorice is the NASTIEST foodstuff known to man..). lol

Cute: we have a different meaning and so i try to avoid using it. It tends to be used to describe people. You know, like \"so what do you think of the new girl\"

It was always traditional in my parents house to deliberately do too much potatoe and veg on a Sunday just so that there was lots of bubble and squeak during the week
B&S is the leftover cabbage and potato from Sunday dinner, mashed together and fried up during the week as an accompaniment to other meals.

well primeval, you shoulsd have tried the sweet variety then! Liquorice being a dutch delicacy too, but mostly the chewy sweet variety, although there\'s chewy salty as well. In scandanavia it\'s mostly like sucking sweets, pure sugar with extracts....
Funny though, I\'ve been to several countries, know people from...(counting on her fingers)...13 different nationalities, and still can\'t find myslef to be very cultured. lollollollollollol
Oh, and the British language IS cute, especially all the dialects you get, I honestly do not beleive there\'s a single brit that speaks schoolbook english....

Cute is being missued in a vacuous and californian way. It actually means \"acute clever sharp shrewd\". and the american colloquialism meaning \"cunning\" (1868)
Use it right or not at all. Perhaps it should be banned altogether though some people may have to think a little more.
