alright now that ive caused all this hassle, i can reply...after ive come back from a power outage...
i like the accent, i do find it \"cute\" and theres nothing you can say to stop me!
im trying to think of different words to describe what i think about the accent.

-sexy
-wonderful to listen to

That\'s why English is often called \"the Language of Shakespeare\" - he made up half the words!
(seriously, Shakespeare is credited with the invention of more words than any other person ever - Oh, and he didn\'t give a damn about standardized spelling and couldn\'t even spell his own name the same way twice)

Mike, I look cute in anything! But you\'re right, you\'re dead...
I do find it funny that this seems to stir up so much trouble why is it a problem for british to know other natrionalities find their language fascinating? I\'ve found it to be 100 times more practical than my native tongue, my English vocabulary is actually larger than my Dutch one! I love the language, it\'s versatile, more suited to things like poetry and writing than my own language, which is clunky and unwieldy at the best of times, and it universal, meaning you\'ll always be able to fins someone that speaks it anywhere.

A long time ago I read a book by Robert Heinlien in which, via a character, he gave uses for the various European tongues:
French for Love and Poetry,
Italian for Cuisine,
Spanish for Passion,
German for Science,
Russian for Sorrow,
and English for Lawyers.
English is practical, fascinating, convoluted and devious at times, and I\'m delighted to find that other people & nations find it so. But it is never cute.
Cute should be reserved for small fluffy kittens & puppies, Chocolate box pictures and young women in Wimples and Clogs.

you know, i was honestly worried that this thread was going to die out....
and i can think the style of language is cute, or fascinating or whatever, just as long as i like it

My guess: Heinlein felt German to be good for making definitions that can only be understood in one particular way. In English you have a lot of ways to play around with the language which makes that more difficult. Which again is probably why he feels it\'s a good language for lawyers.

i would have to say, i dont know, never seen one, montypython kind then yay. if they wear the typical lumberjack wear then yay,

@BECCA - and you other ladies, sorry I didn\'t get over to the Kensignton GD store to meet up with Peter last night. Got stuck at the office. They did pay for me to come over here so I felt obligated to actually do some work...lol
I\'ve left for Brussels now, and I was hoping to jump a train up to Antwerp to see if I could hunt down Corvus and Tuubje, but I don\'t think I\'m going to have time for it.
