PYP: Post your....Pumpkin?

Just wondering if anyone here goes all out on halloween pumpkin carving. It stands to reason that artists with this level of painting and sculpting expertise might let that talent bleed into other areas. I'll have a pic of my most recent halloween pumpkin up tonight once I get home. What about everyone else?

I usually do, but I got married on the 1st November 2 years ago, so for the last 2 years I've been away and this year, but next year I intend to carve a few.

Usually a good little money earner as I charge £10 per pumpkin, but it does take me about 3hrs to carve each pumpkin.

I did a link to this guys (Ray Villafane) work - both sandsculptures and pumpkins on my blog, he was in a national newspaper in the UK this week (The Sun) and I have seen him in the newspaper before doing work at Madame Tussauds waxworks on a Marvel piece (The Hulk) he gets everywhere. in fact he was on TV in an American newspot doing pumpkins as well and I have to say, he's in my top 5 favourite sculptors, the man is awesome.[/hero worship]

@generulpoleaxe: I've seen some of those before, but not all of them. That's some amazing work he does. How long do they last, I wonder?

@blackfly: nice collection! I like the middle row farthest right the best.

@atacam: can't go wrong with freddie! nice work!

Living in England Halloween is not a big festival (not like the US anyway!) So we had never had Jackalanterns as children, anyway the kids wanted one this year so it fell to Daddy (as usual) so comply. Here he is.

The Sun is NOT a NEWSPAPER its just unrecycled fish and chip wrappings.

It's really only in the last 25 years that the Adoption of the American "Trick or Treating" has become prevalent over here.
Before that Halloween was more "traditional" and reflected (if bothered with at all) on the combination of a Pagan festival and Superstitious Anti-Witch/Ghost/Goblin and Ghoulies fearing gig. Now however its become another way of separating parents from cash, increasing the sales of indigestion remedies and giving the Dentist more work.

However waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when I was a kid, Pumpkins weren't readily availble so the tradition Turnip Lantern was used. Now try carving one of those sods into a lantern, by hand.
