Looks really good! Very natural proportions.. The miniatures doesn\'t feel like she\'s walking naturally though IMO.. it kind of feels like she\'s walking really carefully not to fall down. Good for a base idea! ;) Maybe you can sharpen some edges on the armour.. otherwise great!

Jag gillar speciellt skinkorna!! :D

Thanks for the input Sven! :) Hehe jorå, den biten blev jag rätt nöjd med.

I guess an explanation about the pose is in place. She\'s a sort of Joan of Arc type of character, but in the warhammer world. She\'s actually walking very slowly, her eyes looking up in silent prayer and her left hand grasping some form of token of Sigmar (a hammer or the twin tailed comet perhaps) which she wears around her neck. The right arm is relaxed, holding a sword.

The photos don\'t show her left arm in the final pose, as that would\'ve made sculpting the torso more difficult.

Soon done now.. The face was a bit of a pain to get decent, but I think it\'ll turn out okay when I add hair (and paint it of course).

Sorry about the bad pics, I\'m having trouble photographing greens.. Anyone\'s got any tips?

Walking anatomy

I like what you have done so far - the figurine looks very petite and what I particularly like is that you have really paid attention to the proportions which looks really good (except for the buttocks which are IMHO to large and \"sacky\")

For your next mini you make:

-if you have the \"bodyweight\" on the right foot then the right hip goes up while the the left his goes down
-as for the shoulders you have done it absolutely great :) when the right hip goes up the right shoulder goes down

-another thing you could thing about is the \"turn of the torso\" - try to walk without turning your torso: it´s almost impossible

I see that you might know this but on such a small scale is it sometimes necessary to emphasize the position more than natural to get a realistic feel to the pose.

Keep ut the good work!

PS. by the way - I will probably cast in the future - Manuel Sanchez (Team Toulouse) will soon translate his casting article from Ravage in English and guide me trough the process

Thanks for the crits Alex! I did pay A LOT of attention to what you talk about, maybe it doesn\'t come across too well in the pictures. Here\'s a pic of the armature with the first layer of milliput, which should show the angle of the hips better:

JeanneWIP00.jpg

In this pose, I don\'t think the angle should be too exaggerated, since both of the feet are touching the ground (at the point in each step where your feet are at the maximum distance from each others, the hips and shoulders are parallel). And the torso is turned too, btw :D The reason I chose subtility over exaggeration is that I wanted a kind of slow, gentle walk rather than a full march. Still, as you say, it is of course difficult to do this sort of thing in 28mm (that\'s probably part of the reason you don\'t see a lot of these types of poses - the other part being difficulty of casting).

Re: Casting: Interesting, keep me posted :)

Granddad!
looking pretty good Nils, her bum does look a bit big in those, (don\'t tell her tho, :D you know what women are like about that area), probably be ok in jeans tho lol

How did you find working with the fimo? I was thinking of having a go with it myself
I\'ve got the book \'Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist\' by Stephen Rogers Peck which I\'ve found extremely useful while sculpting Orion
(I must do some more on my Orion)

@Mick: Thanks man! I\'ve noticed that many female minis have rather narrow hips and I thought I\'d avoid that with this one, but you\'re right I might\'ve gone a bit far. Then again, I never heard anyone complain about a J Lo style bum ;)

As for FIMO, it was really good for making a basic body, but I probably wouldn\'t do an entire mini in this scale. It is easy to get smooth, but it is not quite as good as GS at holding detail IMO. Also it doesn\'t adhere well to many surfaces. But you should definitely try it out.

Oh yeah, that\'s the book I was thinking about, I\'d forgotten the exact title. Who is the author of the book you mentioned Alex?

And you should definitely finish Orion, it\'s looking great from what I\'ve seen!

@GreenOne: I figured adding that to the title would get me more views

Unfortunately one of my photo hosts got hacked so some pics disappeared, but there are still pics towards the bottom of page one, yes including a couple of nude ones ;)

It is great that you have \"checked\" and are aware of the anatomy

I do also agree on the fact that lesser bodymovements indicate a slower walk

BUT from my point of view I do believe that the viewer/public has to understand the piece - it is therefore advisable to make a mini that is easy-read (\"tydlig\" in swedish:D) - I do understand what you mean though - you want to make something absolutely correct - on a 28mm I do however believe that it doesn´t hurt to make something that is a bit exaggerated - I may be wrong though and it will always be just an opinion.

Concerning the book I don´t remember his name but it was a austrian painter who made the scetches - I can´t check right now since I am at work :) . The skin is very easy to understand once you understand the muscles - it´s just bulked out with the amount of fat you carry.

Keep up the good work!

Best wishes
