Well it\'s coming round to painting time for my GD entry and I have a quick question regards osl for anyone in the know ....
hopefully this will make sense

I have a part of a model where there is a red light source within this source is a welding type spark giving off blue sparks.
In my head this says somewhere I have a purple light playing an effect ??? anyone help me out on this?

Sounds like a job for Shawn. The concept sound right but Id have to see a visual. Wouldnt welding sparks be white tho.

I dont know if this photo would help as reference. I\'m doing a 3 light source thing on it. Could you post a WIP in the OSL thread? I\'ll bump it to the top of the list.

Am I reading this correct? Basically the main heat source is emitting red-orange light and bits of the burning \"stuff\" are popping off and cooling (not going to make blue though) or changing chemical composition (burning through different layers?) to make blue light as they fall. I would think the main burning source would emit much more light than the burning sparks so you should stick to one light source.

Now if you have a roman candle type thing, the main source is just the primer burning and igniting balls of flaming junk which spit out and burn brightly in different colors. So then the blue bits could have more or the same intensity as the main source.

Or are you saying there is a red lamp off to one side and a blue light welding torch on the other? Then it might make a violet color where they mix.

Not quite sure I understand the question.........but, what I\'m doing is having the tall torch be one lightsource, the red ball thing be another and what I call the secoundary light source (ambient light - moon light) be the third. It\'s kink of garish but I like how colorful it\'s comming out. Plus it was a bit of a challange, it\'s a WIP right now. I cant explain the physics of how light works and what I do may not be technically correct but it usually works and comes out looking good.

I\'ll post a wip on the osl thread as soon as I get a chance....It\'s basically a robot spider on the end of a tech adepts mechadendrite....It has a welding torch above it\'d head and is cutting ceramite the pics I\'ve seen have a blue flare where the cut is being made...The spider itself has a red spotlight type affair has a head...
pics will definitely help...I may go with the white weld but I think the blue will work better on the whole model.....

Oh, I was meaning the first question, sorray about that. I see what you\'re doing and it makes sense to me. I think I know what the other guy is doing too now. It will probably end up looking similar to yours. I\'s just a question of intensity now, if the little red lamp on the robot is as bright as the welding torch (not likely but who knows in 40K)

I frequently like \'loud\' light. Bright and colorful.
