Question about commisions

Recently i have been noticing that people are gettting \"swamped\" by commision work etc etc. Personally, i find it hard to get a commision. I almost got one but it fell threw.:|~

Basically how do you get commisions?????

It is a combination of how good you are, how you are promoting your self, what you charge and plain old luck.

I sell on e-bay alot and with every painted auction I include a business card stating my rates and contact info.

Some times it is just luck. i was selling one item on e-bay and a guy contacts me asking if I do comission work. Well after a few trading of e-mails I have made enough to fund my trip to gencon and have atleast twice that coming.

The question is what are you doing to promote your self?

I went and looked at your gallery, there\'s only two minis there with not the best quality photos, so I\'m not surprised that your not swamped with commissions at this point.

You have to get out there, post your work, sell on ebay, sell yourself to people who buy your work, demonstrate your style to the world by painting and posting on any forum you can find, make it known that you take commissions, work hard on the one\'s you get, get a webpage etc...

You\'ve got to do more than you\'ve done before you can start wondering about being swamped by commissions my lad. If you\'re serious about this, put some work into it. It\'s a competitive field and you need to fighting for those comissions with everyone else that offers there services painting miniatures for money. Be aggressive, get a digital camera, borrow one and show off your best work here. It doesn\'t look like you\'re a bad painter or anything, if you can knock out the quality of miniatures that you\'ve shown here in an hour or so or less, then you can make some money probably painting troops.

People want to see what level of work you have to offer before they commit to anything, so take photos to demonstrate what each level represents, ie. if you\'re going to charge for freehand, take photos of your freehand work then show it off so that people know what they are paying for.

I have to be blunt here, but I\'m also trying to be helpful.
