question about painting?

I have been painting GW models for about 11 years now and I feel I am quite a good painter. Now I have not long known about confrontation (yes I have been living in a cave) and I have noticed that the models are not painted in metallics the silver seems to be different some how? if it is true what colours do they use as I really like it as I hate metallics that are available at the moment.

What you are seeing is a technique called: NMM - or Non Metal Metal.

In short is it the simulation of the highly reflective quality of real metal using only regular paints - typically grays, blues and white.

An advanced form of this is called SENMM or Sky Earth Non Metal Metal which atempts to reflect both the sky and the earth on each shiny surface.

I\'d hardly the leading advocate or practitioner of either style so I \'ll step back and let the others talk about it properly.

In the meantime look in the Articles sections for things called NMM - Chrispy, in particular, has some very good stuff written on the subject. Also sort the submissions here by rank and you will see several breath taking examples of both styles up there at the top.
