Okay, sorry for this, I know it\'s not really the right forum, but I know you guys, and i know you\'re knowledgeable about Ebay....

I\'m in a sort of daze right now. I\'ve never used Ebay before....I\'m looking for a new bike, however, and I was searching Ebay when I came across this jewel....a 1400 USD bike, the king of stock bikes, and it looks like it\'s at a reasonable price with about 11 hours left.

Anyways, I\'m pretty much clueless, it\'s a school night, and there\'s not much time left, so I was basically wondering if you wise guys and gals could tell me if everything looks legit, in terms of the seller feedback, etc.

:D

I think in the clear light of morn\' I\'ll be able to think more clearly, but it\'ll be too late then. :)

EDIT: Yes, of course, I guess you want the link.

I know nothing about bikes so i have no idea on the price. However the bid history doesn\'t look shady and he has good feedback. on the downside, he only has a feedback score of 4 and joined back in 2001. Ebay can be a craps shoot at times but i\'ve had alot more good experiances then bad ones.

Okay, thanks!

The price is incredibly good right now, even if the bike is in far worse condition than he says it is.

The scary thing is if it does turn bad for some reason, I\'m talking about big money here, not a 20 dollar DVD or something.

EDIT: Although, if I was the seller, I know I\'d be leery about the guy with zero feedback (ie. ME) bidding on my stuff. lol

He\'s only got 2 previous sales, they were both bikes and the buyers were happy. I wish they were recent enough to see the price, etc.

You realize that bike has no seat? ???

Yea, this is a place of taking your chances. I\'d definately use paypal attached to a credit card so I could yank some money if needed. (not that paypal is all that helpful in a bad deal)

If it isn\'t legit you can report it and paypal will do a chargeback, so I think you\'re pretty safe even if it were a con.

The way Ebay works, buyers are a lot safer, and have more rights than sellers.

I\'m pretty sure PayPal\'s protections are for when you pay out of an attached bank account. If memory serves me correctly, whenever I choose to pay with attached credit card it prompts me to verify that I won\'t get the protection.

The one time I had paid from my attached bank account and needed to invoke the protection, it went very smoothly.

Well, thanks for the help everyone, although I guess it\'s a moot point now.....I was outbid. :(

School makes it hard to bid effectively, methinks. I ran to the computer lab at break, but the auction had already ended. :D

I\'ve already hooked PayPal up to my bank account for mini-related stuff and such-like. I\'ve heard some bad things about PayPal in that regard, but I\'ve got so little money in my account that I wasn\'t really worried.

Go hunt up a program called ebay sniper.

I have a separate bank account just for paypal stuff. If anyone ever cracked it, it would only have about $20 in it unless I was getting ready to pay for something.
