Magic Wash

\"Nuff said.

Wait, not quite....I\'m sure there are other articles floating around out there, as I have seen several tutorials/recipes for it, but this one should do ya for now.

That is one of the key ingredients for \'Magic Wash\'.

Believe you do something along the lines of 25% Floor Wax, 75% Water .. well almost that percentage. Then you put in a couple of drops of retarder, flow improver (or a drop of dish detergent), mix well, and there you go.

YUMV (your use may varry) ...

This article here is great..

My magic wash(don\'t use it alot though) is about 30% future to some 60% water and 10% flow improver, works nicely.

Hmmm, flow improver and future together? Most curious, I\'ve always thought them to perform \'opposite\' jobs really, flow improver reducing surface tension, and future to increase the surface tension to draw the paint into crevices.

Definitely some more experimenting to do, since my mix is 20% future with 80% water. Then 20% paint and 80% wash mix, that\'s 16% future in the final mix. I must admit that I do find it doesn\'t draw the paint as much as I\'d like it to.

I used to use Future to thin down most of my paints. Once I started using the Liquitex retarder, I starting using that instead. Future is too glossy as a general painting thinner IMO (as it obviously would be, being a wax).

I love it for making custom washes, though. One of my favorites is Jen Haley\'s bone wash recipe (three parts Bestial Brown, one part black, dilute with Future).
