Here is my 2nd *finished* mini
Some C&C are welcome.

Hair/mane is done is VMC Hull Red, shad in Hull Red+Prussian Blue, highlight with Hull Red > Red > Red + Light Orange > Light Orange

Dark skin is base in VMC Basalt grey, shade in Basalt grey+Prussian Blue, hight to SW grey

Light skin is base in SW grey, shade to VMC Bluegreen, highlight by adding white to SW Grey.

Leather is based in VMC Biege Brown, shade with Flat Earth > Germ Cam. Brown. Highlight with Beige Brown > Orange Brown > Yellow Ochre

eye is bad moon yellow with VMC black red pupil

some of the transitions, ie on the shoulder could be smoother and i think the chains could do with a little more contrast. other than that, he\'s pretty good. amazing, in fact if he\'s your 2nd finished!

Yes, this is my 2nd painted mini, and as you can see i my gallery, my last one was done on Feb, you can see I am a very slow painter. Got to take care of other things, mainly the kids and the missus. But the sad/ironic/<whatever adjective you like> thing is I have already accumulate enough miniatures to last for 10 life times and the pewter-dom in my home is still expanding. Yes, I believe this is a curse, I am tainted. :twisted: Anyone here know got a clue how to lift this curse?

welcome to the fold! on the \'positive\' side, there is no cure so you shall have to dive in headlong and enjoy the addiction!

to improve your transitions, try thinning your paintes even more. it shoud barely taint the surface. use very little on the brush and blowing on it will speed up the drying of each brushstroke

practice is the only way to improve so you have a good headstart if you are already knocking stuff out at this level

Very impressive second effort! Your brush control and color choices look sharp.

Freak\'s advice on thinning your paints to help with smoothing transitions is spot on. Focus on that and increasing your contrast and I think you\'ll be really pleased with the results.

You can certainly benefit from bringing up some brighter highlights, but I think you\'ll get even more benefit right now from deepening some of your shadows. I don\'t know if you\'re familiar with the concepts of dark lining or black lining, but deepening your shadows (particularly where different parts of the model meet) will really help to set off each piece.

I did try deepening the shadow at the connecting places, but apparently it is not enough.

Contrast doesn\'t always translate well to photos. Particularly online. That could be a part of it.

I\'m worthless with a camera. I have to have a buddy of mine take pics for me. =P

nice looking mini mate - thinking back to my second mini.........yasis :flip:
This is pretty sharp work, as said above there is some things you need to work with but that will come with time.
About the mini it selv I\'m not sure I understand the difference of colors on the body and the arms/legs

generally the shading is ok but it would look better if it were darker in the deep folds. specifically between the fingers and \'toes\' and the chain

as arogers said, try some darklining. thatsa good technique to make different areas pop ie between the chain and the skin, the nails and the \'toes\' and the bandages/parchment and his skin
