I think the photoshopped background is taking away formt he mini itself. The mini looks very nicely done, and the ground cover looks good, but something is funny with the snow. I get the same problem. I think it may be the powdered snow. When it is all snow it looks fine sometimes, but with your grass, this mini may warrant some melt and run-off of the snow to show where it is receding.

But that is just my opinion, so make of it what you will. He scores a 7 with me.

added a black background to one of the pictures (since I\'m getting used to photo editing its a slow process) but here it is. So let me know what you guys think of this black background.

I think it\'s good.

One thing I see, and maybe I am wrong in saying this, but it looks to me like the skin goes from darkest to lightest without any transition.

Someone a while back laid out a crit on one of my mini\'s that I was going from darkest to brightest without leaving enough space on the mini for any of the transitions between the two. If I was a photo shop guy I\'d show you!

When that was pointed out to me I realized that at that time I was working from darkest to lightest instead of mid tone to dark and light and that as i would work the model brighter I would just be painting over the same highlighted area over and over again.

I don\'t even know if this makes sense, man I wish I had the pic the guy made for me. I think is was .sam. actually. It was a super good crit!

But it\'s a cool piece!

No you are absolutely correct with this guy, I can\'t remember exactly when but I finished this guy over a year ago when I was painting from darkest to lightest. But I\'ve been trying to do mid tone then shading it and highlighting, but habits are so hard to break.

I liek the dwarf quite a bit better. I really like the nmm on the axes. Also I think your flesh has the \"spacing\" of the shade to highlighting done better.

Man I feel like a tool even typing that stuff. Hope it makes sense. But yeah, I would rate the Dwarf a full point higher. Much better I think!
