I thought that the Space Wolves series by the new author is crappy?...based on most of the reviews online.

NEW AUTHOR(S)

The new author is Lee Lightner, which is a pen name for 2 U.S. guys.I really enjoyed their latest book, but maybe I am not a good literary judge as I find anything about WOLVES awesome! ( even the painting instruction lol).
The book picks up were the dark angels encounter left off and bowls along at a rollicking pace with some very exciting surprises .
Not Tolstoy or Dickens ,but great pulp fiction !
Still 3/4 marine novels due in the next 6 months :drunk:

GOD bless ..................VINCENTI lol

I didn\'t care for the the first Ragnar novel by Lightner (which is actually two people BTW), but that wasn\'t because of the story, but the copy editing. Major fluff errors, including wrong times and dates, obvious spelling errors, and piss poor grammar. I may actually avoid this one.

And I believe the word \"orientate\" was used.
ITS NOT A WORD, PEOPLE!!!!

Orientate v. = orient.

And, achem, it\'s; plus that comma is redundant :D

Try the Oxford ENGLISH Dictionary - you know, the one devoted to ENGLISH. I believe it\'s listed in there...

A bit of a faux pas there...

Just to make a point though, you can say \'rugby-oriented\' rather than \'rugby-orientated.\' Maybe that\'s where the confusion arose.

Also, that comma is not redundant really. It all depends on what the writer is trying to do with the pace/rhythm of the text.

But aye, have a look at the dictionary, chief! (my comma usage is not redundant either, as I wanted that slight pause between \'dictionary\' and \'chief\'!)

Ade, what took you so long to finish reading that??? I finished it the other week :D :D

Thunderhawker from the online Oxford English Dictionary where proper English is used:

orientate

• verb another term for ORIENT.

Really? When I look it up online its listed as slang. So, no its not an official word. You don\'t conversate, you don\'t observate, thus you don\'t orientate. The verb form is orient. Though as is so often the case if we are wrong as a society it just gets accepted.

EDIT: From englishplus.com:
\"Orientate is more widely accepted in the U.K. than in the U.S.A., but it should be avoided in any formal or standard writing.\"

Prescriptive twaddle LOL Orientate has been in English since the middle of the 19th century.
