Random bases \'cause I\'m not in the mood to paint

Life has left me with little time or concentration for in-depth painting so I\'ve been making bases. I thought I\'d show them to you.

This one was made with milliput and part of the stem from a pumpkin. It\'s going to be a swamp base and I had no idea when I was working on it what I\'d do with it.

Since it was made I found the perfact mini for it though. She\'s kissing a frog. I WON\'T start it untill I have a couple of WIP\'s done though.

The second base is a pavement base.

This is for a Suzi with sword from Hasslefree. http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=878 I\'m currently working on her. She will be looking over her shoulder at a severed arm holding a boquet of flowers. It will be called \"Back Off Fanboy\"

The last is a water base I learned from Jeremie made from some bark and milliput. No plans for this one.

Here\'s another base I made in the class with Jeremmie. This one is a set of steps out of milliput. I only had a toothpick to sculpt with and I ended up with cobbles on top and flag stones as steps but hey, no one\'s perfect.

I DO actually work on things now and then, but life has backed up on me lately. Hopefully when I get my own place things will settle enough to actually get bak into the swing of things.

What do you all think?

Very nice, Liz. Really like the rocky overhang. Figure it\'d be good for a small water effects thing.

I really like these bases. I need to sit down and try making some bases, it\'s the next big frontier for me.

My favourite is the bark/water base. That\'s going to look sweet.

Milliput. I filled one of those bases with the depresion in it, making sure it was smooth. Then I pressed 60 grit sand paper lightly on top. Drew in the lines with a tooth pick and the crack with the point of an xacto knife. Cleaned up with more sand paper pressing as needed.

That overhang is great, i might have to steal the idea.

it looks quite simple too, just a block of wood, a large chip of treebark (cut into shape on the back no doubt), and miliput to fill the sides. Am I right? (and did i ruin your chance to explain this :p)

would love to see that painted, with some water effect and a nice mini on top.

the other bases look equally great, but the overhang just screams out to me.

Pretty much, yes although I didn\'t cut the bark down. Just found a bit that fit the block, filled in w/ milliput and after it dried sanded the hell out of the sides so the any excess putty was flush.
