i'm trying to ignore but can't.....

i think the lovecraftian fella could could do with more contrast on the whole. mostly some really dark pain in the recesses but paler overall. the vein effect is brill though

the tanks are cool. perfect bases for them too

dude, i love the stuff you choose to paint. very atmospheric. the eyes came out great on the....thing. i also like the veins, as freak mentioned. ive tried to do them before, but never could get them to look right. i also agree they could use some deeper shadows n stuff, but with this kind of subject id stay away from the uber sharp/crisp contrasts that seem to be all the rage. do you ever game with your minis? seems like your collection would be pretty wicked for it.

I pretty much aim for 'gaming' with all my minis...But oddly, I've rarely done it...

Thanks for the comments guys! I know my mini choices are always a bit off beat, but those are definately the type of minis that appeal to me.

Hi Vike, top pair look like a nice encounter for a game. Really interesting skintones. The bottom one is just bonkers, time to make those Sanity rolls!

Looking at them, I'm tempted to suggest a little sharper definition in places, such as a darkline around the white pants, but am not sure whether it would sit well with your style. It's reminiscent to me of oil pastel work. Same goes for Son-Of, more depth & highlight but would that reduce the rather creepy intensity of the eyes?

So I'll just say those grundies would be more disgusting with skidmarks. Or the blood seepage of a prolapse perhaps? Or is thast too disgusting? :rotfl:

Do you have any of the Tamiya clear paints? If you lift Son-Of out of the base, fill it with PVA, put the model back so that the PVA oozes out a bit & dribbles a little down the sides of the base. Paint PVA in dark greeny browns. Cover with a murky mix of Tamiya Clear Smoke/Red/Green/Yellow. Perhaps not thoroughly mixed? Swirl together on pallette with a cocktail stick then blob on.

Inspiring stuff! Certainly woken my brain up on a fuzzy Sunday morning :)

Cheers, B.

Painting a prolapse would indeed be a first! LOL. I think I'll have to push the contrast up a bit. The look 'right' when I view them in my hand, but overall I think I paint too subtly.

Cheers for the comments.
