So far I've managed to get ahold of everything I need for this project except for the clay shapers. Looks like I'll be ordering them online today.
The only sculpting I've ever done, besides an ashtray in elementary school, has been conversion work for other miniatures. I did sculpt the hands on most of the Orks in my Ork Poker diorama, along with some other items; I sculpted the bases for these Fury of Dracula figures; and the wall and doors for this diorama I did for a WAMP competition. I've never done a full mini from scratch, though.
My plan is to follow along with the mad scientist step by step so I can easily compare my results to those of cyberSquig. After this project I'll be using my new found knowledge to complete a Clockwork Soldier miniature that I've been conceptualizing for about a year.
